^Those prices are high as hell

    I'm gonna be rich!!!!

Didn't the $80 cans of 7.62x25 Milsurp crates dry up almost overnight? Now those cans go for $500 a pop.

Really??? as compared to when? So am I to assume you have plenty and are hoping to sell it for "$500 a pop"

The point is there is ammo available at a DECENT price in today's market. If you don't like the price... don't buy any.

Makes me glad I bought a miniscule amount last year at 85/440.

I believe the companies that are claiming out of stock are sitting on it waiting for the shortage/panic to increase.

Then they'll miraculously find some to sell at a much larger profit margin.

Agree. They have done that in the past. Supply and demand.

    A good example is seeing a box of 525 22LR going for $58.00 a box... :sad20:

my friends, whether or not the embargo crisis is real, the panic buying is. That is what destroyed the .22 market. Buy now, buy alot. This will get ugly..... Those wonderful green tins are disappearing fast.

    7.62x54R surplus

Wideners out of stock [match grade surplus in stock]
    Aim surplus out of stock
ammo to go out of stock
    sportsmans guide out of stock
    SOG out of stock
    ammunition depot out of stock
cheaper than dirt out of stock
    JG sales out of stock

I managed to get a crate in at the last moment.

    First, I don't have any weapon that needs 7.62 z 54R ammo. When folks say that there's no ammo, I always go to gunbot.net. Since there may be errors, I went to each of the sites to verify on-hand stock;

That's 31 cent a round higher than one year ago.

    AKA: BULL$HIT pricing.

Not disagreeing. Simply pointing out that the ammo is available. We can go around and around on the ammo prices.

Up until around the 2008 elections I could buy new factory 9mm FMJ ammunition for 8-10 cents a round even if I bought a box at a time. With some shopping, .223 ran somewhere around 10-15 cents a round if bought in bulk and you could find good quality surplus .308 for under 20 cents a round.

    Things have changed.

Green Spam can still be bought locally for 115/440 and no shipping.

I find it rather interesting that when gas prices go up during times of heavy demand, it's a conspiracy by Big Oil to reduce supplies in order to increase prices/profits. Then somehow when demand drops and prices fall nobody seems to say anything about the big conspiracy then.

So it goes with ammo prices. Gun sales hit record levels over the past few years consistent with Obama's presidency; many would say that ammo sales would logically go up similarly. People bought ammo for all their new guns. More people were shooting than ever before. Those shooters even decided to accumulate ammo for those guns (those damn hoarders!). Ammo prices went up dramatically, and now have dropped somewhat across the board. Yet there's a giant conspiracy that manufacturer's/distributors and sellers somehow want to limit ammo so that prices continue up. In any business model in existence, product in warehouses or not on store shelves is money NOT being made.

Smart folks will continue to follow current affairs and be proactive in their decision-making. Others will continue to have no clue and be re-active and complain about what's happening.

Live in the past, or live in the present with an eye on the future.

When I was a kid, my dad bought me a Winchester 1892 lever action in .25-20. It was hard to find ammo for that thing even back in the early 1990s! It had the giant lever on it (the cocking lever with the really big loop).

It's been an under priced round for a long time, just like 8mm was at one point too. I bet x54 will end up around 350 for a crate of 880, or about 40 cents a round. The days of cheap 10 cent shooting centerfire ammo are gone. Closest thing now is 7.62x39 or 5.45x39. Remember x54 and 8mm and the like is surplus, not current production like x39's.

SOB! Every time I decide to buy something this crap happens. Last year I got into reloading..everything disappeared and what was left cost a fortune. Im in the market now for a M44 and/or a T53...now this. I give up >:( Maybe I should get into wanting Democrats and maybe they will disappear too.
