I didn't give up, I was there last time to help out for the first hour, after that I was signing up new members and doing walkthroughs for range badges. Unfortunately my work schedule means that I travel often on weekends and I can't commit to running them every time. Whenever possible though...
I have a 40 watt laser engraver and can do this for you. Do you have the material or are you looking for a quote on that? I'll make the cut, polish the edge and engrave it for free but would have to charge cost for the material and shipping.
I'm looking for a machinist to work on some prototype parts for me out of 6061 aluminum. One project for now however a good relationship will bring on future work. I would prefer someone with a CNC setup but if you're damn good with your manual mill then that will work. Need the following...
My vote would be for the Sig P229 DAK in .357sig if it weren't for that $750 requirement. Easier to take down than the glock for non-gun folks, the necked 357 round means there's hardly ever any chance of a fail to feed in a critical situation, they're compact but still fit large hands well...

I bought the threaded P229 conversion from On Target in Odenton for 350 I think about a year ago, I think 2A sales can get them too but don't quote me on that.
These kits are great. I have the standard one on my P226 and the threaded barrel version for my P229 and they work flawlessly with cheap bulk golden bullet.
If you get one make sure to check out www.sigpower.com for some cool upgrades like mags that lock the slide back and steel guide rods.

A lot of "less informed" gun shops seem to think that collapsible stock = regulated too.
A buddy of mine and I were in a VA gun shop and he saw a Benelli M4 that he wanted to buy, he asked the seller if they were on the MD regulated list. I really can't expect a VA shop to keep up with MD...
