Dumb Question: Can I drive to PA and buy a Russian SVD for cash?

Hello, Sorry for the dumb question, but I don't really know my way around gun laws. I figure better safe. Issue 1: I think the Russian SVD has interchangeable parts with the banned chinese SVD -- so I think it's just straight up banned. Issue 2: Suppose it's not banned -- or I want to...

Hey -- I took a look around but couldn't find an answer. Sorry if these questions are silly or redundant. Better safe. Thanks! A) Can I buy a VEPR 54R and remove the barrel thread cover? My understanding is that outside of MD, this would trigger 922R and I'd have to replace a few...

      VEPR 5.45 legal in MD?

Thanks for the input! What exactly do you mean by 'standard AK format?' Furniture? I think it takes standard AK-74 mags. Is that relevant?

      Around the shop 03-12-15

Oh yeah I see it now. On the sporter furniture set, the front sling mount is at the forward end of the handguard, like by the gas block. Looks like it's farther back on this one. Cool!

      Saiga .308 -- Regulated?

Is the Saiga .308 a regulated gun in Maryland? I've done a little searching and it seems like it's up for debate, depending on the caliber. If not, is there any paperwork required for a private sale? Can I just hand over some cash and drive off with the gun? Pardon my ignorance, I'm a...

Total N00b -- gun law questions

Hi, I'm trying to get back into shooting. I have no idea how anything works. Better safe, right? I had a 10/22 in California ten years ago. That required an FFL and a 10-day waiting period. I'm looking to buy my friend's Saiga .308. Just want to cover my bases. Sorry if this...
