Help me get into the 1911 game.

U might want to checkout STI International - makes a variety of 1911's from competition shooting to lower priced ($6xx) all metal 1911's and 2011's. I have the STI Spartan V - government size - 1911: very impressed with the fit/form/finish and function. There are some reviews on youtube...

Problems with with Dick's Sporting Goods?

If you are talking about a handgun or regulated firearm - then 7 to 10 days is typical no matter where you purchase. Background check non disapproval takes at least 7 days plus spent shell casings may be required - this many times is an out of store service.

      First-Time Handgun Buyer

Browning buckmark or ruger marks are very reliable accurate 22lr plinkers - great starting handgun and even for experienced handgun owners - most everyone enjoys inexpensive plinking once in awhile.

Recommend a Home Defense Revolver for $300

U might consider a shotgun with revolver as backup. To me, the shotgun is to firearms what multi-tool is for portable tools. It can serve multi-purposes - with a simple barrel change, if one desires, precision for each application. Many feel that todays quality built semi-auto pistols are...

need help looking for gun for the wife

As others have suggested a government size all steel 9mm, maybe 1911 style. I have strength (grip) issues in my hands due to injuries and aging - first 9mm I am comfortable with is my STI Spartan V - 5 inch barrel and weights 2 lbs unloaded.

      Help Me Decide

U might consider a colt/walther 1911 22lr first purchase as training for your ultimate real 1911. Great fit/finish/function and inexpensive ammo means lots of fun shooting targets.

Dilemma with purchase from Bud's Gun Shop

In purchasing over internet I always call MD FFL first for many reasons: courtesy, their stock, ordering ability, acceptance from particular online supplier. Good luck but I don't think Bud's will ship no matter what your MD FFL says. GalleryOfGuns - they won't ship a handgun unless it...

MD Gun Apps up 83% Since Election Day

We live in a world of fear - sometimes founded and sometimes not. Firearm/ammo manufacturers should have/maybe did back Obama - sales have certainly sky rocketed.

Dilemma with purchase from Bud's Gun Shop

I would cancel order - stay within MD laws - 30 rd mags not permitted to be shipped to/ nor sold in MD. I would not expect Bud's would ship the firearm with mag to MD. Call visit local IP to see if they can get firearm with 20 rd mag. Or change order with Bud's for a version of firearm...

      .22LR Handguns for Training

I have an unpopular choice for many on this forum, its fit/finish and function has been top notch for me. Similar to u, I wanted a 1911 style .22lr for cheap training with my regular 1911. My first choice was sig/gsg 1911 (sig customer service vs just buying the gsg 1911) but availability...

      Age to start shooting?

I have relatives in KY - most start their kids shooting at 5 or 6 years old. I get the local paper and they recently had a picture of a 5 YRO next to 8 point deer he killed - did not show firearm used.

Soon to be reloader dumb ass lever question

Just mounted Lee Breech Lock Challenger Press to my bench- it takes some force to move the lever thru its full stroke (not loading anything just moving the lever). Hard to quantify amount of force required-it just surprised me. Is this normal? Is there an adjustment? Thanks for your...
