I'm in the market for my first AR. I am looking for durability and reliability and sure, accuracy. DI only please. This would be my SHTF rifle, as well as a fun range plinker. Because of marylands gun laws I know I am limited in my options otherwise I would buy KAC or Noveske. I know the HBAR Colts, LMTs (although hard to find now) and LWRC DI are good options. Precision Firearms in WV make HBARs that are match fitted, giesselle triggers, lothar walther barrels, and so on. Anyone have any experience with them? Are there any worthy options/brands that I don't know about? Because it will be my first, and for a while only AR, I would like a pre-built rifle with a good reputation, made for warfare. I know this topic has been beat to death so I appreciate the input.

For a box stock no frills AR take your pick from Del Ton, Windham Weaponry, Stag*, FN*, and Colt*. All offer MD legal guns with pinned FSBs and drop in handguards. If you can I'd lean towards mid length gas, but that's just me.

If you peruse KAC and Noveskes websites they may offer an HBAR advertised rifle. I know BCM doesn't offer any HBARs even though they offer HBAR contours.

    *these manufacturers have military contracts.

KAC are legal, Engage is a Knights dealer. Give them a call, get what you really want!

Lwrc DI. A bit more. But outstanding quality. OP did ask for "best" MD legal ar. Hell I got a noveske rogue hunter at Duffy's C&C.

I'm a big Windham/OG Bushmaster fan. Can't go wrong with a basic Windham. All other previous suggestions also good.

I would start at Engage Armament (an IP here) They built a couple for My E-4 s that are Great also will not steer You Wrong!

Had many friends get great guns from them. I have three lowers from them and had two uppers from them. They are a great place that for sure will get you a HBAR AR. The features are a step above the basic guns. Such as full rails, slightly better trigger, nice finish, Stainless White Oak Armament Match .223 Wylde barrels, and various different adjustable stocks. Last I checked they start at $900. You get more features for the price and if you want the features more for your money.

    Happy to be Here
I vote for a trip to Engage. Nate and Andy will help you create exactly what you want.

I also second the vote for a look at Windham Weaponry. Great rifles, excellent customer service.
