Like I've said many times...
We have the best internet research team here on MDS.
This might sound familiar: Pick a target, personalize it... then knock it out of the park!
ok, remind me if Brochin is a white hat or black hat in this drama...?

So post the question about due process on his Facebook page or not?Brochin is sort of a grey or zebra striped hat. Give him a minute or two to figure out what he thinks you want to hear and he'll say it. How he will end up voting is a mystery.

If phrased in a way that expresses your concerns over the bill without calling him a slimy turncoat weasel, I don't see how it can hurt.

McFadden email bounced-please check. thanks
So diplomatic!
But then, "diplomacy" is the art of telling someone to go to Hell in a way that lets them look forward to the trip...

Also, someone remind me of the status of these bills...
They had the judiciary committee hearing in both houses, right?
House of delegates had lots of testimonry, Senate had limited testimony, right?
Now it's on the floor for both houses to pass?

Had a robo call on my machine when I got home today from the NRA-ILA about this.
UPDATE
I received another email from Delegate Rey:
Updated. Thanks
BTW - It's HB 1000, not SB 1040 (this forum thread), which is being pushed to advance. Both bills are "terrorist watchlist" usage. HB1000 discussion thread http://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=189301
List, from AGC, that has emails and phone numbers for representatives: http://files.ctctcdn.com/f6b7b2d9001/a69dba09-9fac-41a4-9887-b464ce4e13bf.pdf
Senator,
I urge you to oppose SB1040.
While the intent behind the bill (namely keeping guns out of terrorist's hands) is commendable, this bill unacceptably tramples the rights of due process.
There is no recourse if a person is put on the Terrorist Watchlist. No manner of redress is available. To that end, people on the Terror watchlist are not even supposed to know they are listed there, so of course this is no method to petition for remedy if one finds out they are on the list.
Not only, that, but the abridgement of constitution rights of due process is so terrible, that even the ACLU is against this bill, and has provided testimony to that effect opposing this bill.
The risk of abuse is very high, as demonstrated recently, when every single member of all of the UK's rifle clubs were entered onto the UK-version of this list.
Given the inability for citizens to correct errors on the Terror Watchlist, and the impossibility that the Maryland legislature can develop such a process for a Federally controlled list, I cannot see how this bill can proceed at all.
Please oppose this bill and it's unconstitutional abridgement of the rights of the citizens of Maryland to due process.
