I grew up in upstate NY when public education was great and we could bring our rifles and shot guns to school for after school hunting. Moved out 42 years ago and came here when it was a free state. NY state is a huge funnel with high taxes and all the money flowing down the Thruway and Hudson River to feed the city.
For those of you who lay blame on New Yorkers for their plight. you're no better than the ass hat VA dealers who won't sell a shot gun to a MD resident saying,"you get what you deserve"
Like MD, Ny is dominated by one area, NYC with a huge population, much like Balt city, PG and Mont counties. We fought hard in Annapolis last summer and where did it get us?
Gun owners in general can be said "they get what they deserve". 80 million gun owners and what, 5 million NRA members? I'd be willing to bet that a large number of gum flappers on here don't belong to NRA or SAF etc.

    I absolutely hear you.

Now, I live in NJ, and Monday there will be a hearing on the magazine size bill. From all indications it WILL be interesting to watch, due to what the patriots have planned.

    (H) MODIFICATIONS OF SUCH FEATURES, OR OTHER FEATURES, DETERMINED BY

25 PARTICULARLY SUITABLE FOR MILITARY AND NOT SPORTING PURPOSES. IN ADDI-

28 OR SEMIAUTOMATIC SHOTGUNS, IDENTIFIED BY MAKE, MODEL AND MANUFACTURER'S
29 NAME, TO BE WITHIN THE DEFINITION OF ASSAULT WEAPON, IF THE SUPERINTEN-
30 DENT OF STATE POLICE DETERMINES THAT SUCH WEAPONS ARE PARTICULARLY SUIT-
31 ABLE FOR MILITARY AND NOT SPORTING PURPOSES. A LIST OF ASSAULT WEAPONS,
32 AS DETERMINED BY THE SUPERINTENDENT OF STATE POLICE, SHALL BE MADE
33 AVAILABLE ON A REGULAR BASIS TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

In other words, The State can later decide they don't like something just because and make it illegal?

I also like how possessing ten or more firearms is considered a criminal act. Who the f*ck comes up with this stuff?

It's not that people in NY aren't standing up for themselves, the majority of the gun owners live Upstate, where the politicians don't give two craps about. NYC runs everything in that state. People from anywhere north of White Plains have been unrepresented for nearly a century.

this just hurts to see. whats happening to our country

Roper vs Simms was the catalyst.

Before that, State Senate seats could be done by geographic areas or counties. Afterwards, it had to be done by population.

If we were to undo that, places like MD and NY could be balanced because the cities would be equally represented in the Senate.

After the 12-17 inches ,the next couple of snow storms ,pretty much got used to it.

Spent the 1st 21 years of my life in upstate NY. Got more snow than MD ever dreamed of. Participated in all of the winter sports and enjoyed it. 40 years later I have no use for the cold or the snow. Not to mention totally sick of the 24/7 news casts whenever we get a storm and the drivers and grocery buyers. Do these people only crap during a snow storm:innocent0

There are no lost causes, only tough battles.

I mean, seriously, who thought that California, Hawaii, and Illinois would go Shall Issue before Maryland?

Legislatively, yes, there's not much gun owners can do in states like New York, Maryland, or New Jersey to stop oppressively useless gun laws from passing. But there is still hope from the courts.

Patience. Civil rights law is a particularly slow process, and by comparison we are building good Second Amendment jurisprudence at lightning speed.

I for one am glad the gun control crowd is pressing hard, in that I think the harder they push the more it erodes the success of their long term strategy of divide and conquer and boiling the frog.

The limit on 10 firearms is a great motivation to get otherwise FUDD gun owners to anti-up and kick in.

While it sucks for NY'ers (for a while anyway), ultimately it exposes the gun control agenda for what it truly is.

Just an attempt at clarification regarding the "10 firearms" issue:

By NY's weird legal definition, all "firearms" are illegal, and all handguns and "AW's" are considered "firearms." Guns that do not meet those definitions (e.g. shotguns or non "AW" rifles) are not. However, if one holds a license to possess a particular handgun or "AW," and that handgun or "AW" is registered, it is legal and therefore not considered a "firearm" by the state.

So the only people affected by the "10 firearms" language will be those illegally possessing 10 or more unregistered handguns or "AW's". You can legally possess as many other guns as you wish.

I have eleven handguns listed on my NY LTC, not to mention a bunch of long guns in my safe, but by their defintion, I have no "firearms."

    Clear as mud?
