No more Beretta's in my shop! I agree, they cant up and move in 30days but they could have said they have a plan to move operations over a given period of time. I am sure it would have made alot of us at least feel better.

guys this is the important thing to remember

Martin O'Malley, Mike Busch, Mike Miller, Brian Frosh, Kathleen Dumais, And Joseph Vallerio sold out. Instead of passing "tough common sense gun control laws that will keep people safe", they sold out and exempted Beretta brand high capacity magazines and assault rifles, just to keep lucrative government contract tax money flowing into their pockets. These beretta brand high capacity magazines and bullet spewing assault rifles will still be on the streets of Maryland, and on the streets across this great nation.
By making beretta brand assault rifles one of the most legal assault rifles in MD, and repealing the 7 day waiting period for assault rifles in MD, Governor Martin O'Malley and his supporters have ensured that Beretta brand assault rifles will be cheap and easly to obtain, and will be the assault rifle of choice in the once great state of maryland. As a more modernized rifle than the AR15 or AK47, we are assured that blood will run in the streets. Beretta even threatened to move their death dealing business of out maryland, which would have kept the blood off the hands of our progressive state, but these greedy md politicians colluded and lobbied them to stay, all to keep the state's coffers full. So who is the greedy lobby making money off death now, the NRA or the MD democrat political machine?

What difference would it make now if they moved?
The next time a gun bill comes up we'll say hey look what happened last time, we lost 300 jobs in Maryland. It wouldn't change anything. The legislators don't care. Beretta needs to do what Beretta needs to do to keep their company viable.

    Screw Beretta.
Please everyone that is on another gun forum spread the word about Beretta and ask that they boycott them. They need to be taught a lesson. Aslo, ask the dealers to not sell Beretta's, period.

Very disappointing considering they just need to jump over the river where they already have an existing facility.

Nobody would expect them to leave immediately. But it would mean a lot if they laid out a plan to leave, say by election time 2014 or even by 2015, as long as they left.

This response basically validates the actions of O'malley and Miller. They got to ram through this legislation with no consequences from the largest gun manufacturer in the state.

I'm sure we all are familiar with the line: Elections have consequences. There doesn't seem to be consequences for the current administration/establishment that pushed for/passed SB281 from those who could make the biggest statement/impact. And god knows what they will try to do next year and beyond.

Basically this along with actions of other gun companies tell politicians that the "gun manufacturers" are all bark and no bite and the worst they will have to deal with are the "petty" grievances of 2A "extremists".

This is not the message we want to send.

We must stand strong, stand together and show the anti's what happens when they try to infringe the 2nd amendment.

What makes all of you such experts in manufacturing and equipment moving ????? This was a extreamly hard desicision for Beretta! It would have costed the company 10's of millions of dollars !! There is no ready to go facility just over the bridge !!! Its a storage warehouse !! Unlike magPul that had injection molding equipment Which I might add are very easy to move and set up. Beretta requires over a 200000 Amp power service! There is many EPA Issues dealing with the Chrome line, Anodizing, Brunitron,Blueing,The DMP, Heat treating with caustic soda !Then there is the lead issues with the shooting tubes and EPA permits required before moving and redoing the building! Then they have 1200 HP of air compressors. Hundreds of mile of wires and air lines to power there equipment. Then there is moving and set up of there machines. The Matsui siki's took over a year to set up and thats just 6 machining centers! thay have several hundred ! then down time and not being able to deliver on contracts. There is Mag partical and metrololigy that needs a clean rooms that need a consistant air quality and temp.Beretta has its own tool grinding group that needs special air ventilation system. so does there polishing area. And what about the people that have been there 15-20 years? The avarage employee has been there 18 years. So what makes this a no brainer to just jump over the bridge??? I mentioned just a small bit of what needs to be done. You can love them or hate them . But if you have ever been there and seen both the tolarance , quality and Innovation You could better understand and appriciate what it takes to make a gun!

If they didn't plan on moving or making Md hurt, they shouldn't have threatened to do it. F them! I'll never buy any of their products and I'm selling the ones I have. They don't deserve to be in my home!

Agreed, F Beretta they are now on my DO NOT BUY list and I will tell anyone who asks my opinion to stay away as well. In fact from now on I will refer to them as the O’Malley Arms Company.

    I second that!

I think they took us for a ride, knowing fully well that they would acquiesce. Maybe we should turn the tables on them and force their hand. Since a lot of us are now DINO's, maybe we should contact our reps and have them kicked out of the state because of what they produce.

what they should do is slowly start setting up a new facility while slowly scaling back the existing one till it is doing nothing but fulfilling its contractual obligations till that contract is over and then leave completely.

They said one thing and did another. They needed to put their money where their mouth was and get out of Maryland.

I understand it takes time and that there are contracts to fill. They could have done the move slowly over time to keep the contract work flowing, but they have chosen to stay over what they had testified they would do.

    It's a shame, I really wanted an M9.

How many of you guys have moved out of MD yet, or put your houses on the market? If it's so easy to leave, you should have done so by now (as I have...). If your excuse is "MD is my home state and I'll stay and fight", "well the kids are still in school", or "I can't sell my house without taking a SIGNIFICANT loss", you should be careful about casting stones.

I don't have time to make a proper response at the moment, but a few people in this thread have made good points on why they are staying for now... I will have to elaborate later... I've got a lot to say and I hope at least some of you will consider it.

i'm going back and forth over this one. I don't want Beretta to lose business by moving, but in this fight, we need to be willing to sacrifice. So my final thought is screw Beretta, apparently their principles are not strong enough.

Remember this is just not about Beretta not moving. They cut a deal with the gun banners to protect their own products.

Remember when S&W cut a deal with Clinton. When that happened I sold two 686 revolvers that I owned. They were good guns, but I HAD to sell them.
