My wife just ordered her XD9 yesterday from Gunbroker. I just ordered 2 lowers from Spike's Tactical (1 Pirate lower and a Punisher lower). I might see about a handgun for me in July, but the rest of my list isn't regulated...unles a KSG gets put on the regulated list.

Ugh, I need an SKS and a Dragunov, plus a pistol, and another AR, too bad I won't have the luxury of getting a quality lower from one of the brands I'd want to pick up.

Time to put in overtime. Start packing lunches and working on my off days.

A lot of overtime and bag lunches for a Dragunov. About the ugliest one I've ever seen just went for $10k on GB: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=334068791

Doesn't look like you'll see one for less for quite some time

HK P30 or L if you want a longer slide. Never any issue. Thousands of rounds fired.

Now that is a great suggestion. I'd not looked at them before, but just did online. Now I'll try to hunt one down to check out the real thing.

    Many thanks

Is the lever gun going to be banned or require you to jump through additional hoops like a handgun? If not, why even put it on the list until October 2, 2013? Maybe I am missing something.

Good point - the rifles I want aren't likely to need any extra silliness (a lever-action .357, a Garand? not on the grabbers' radar yet).

Must focus on currently regulated first.

Okay, second. FIRST I need to get my better half on board with spending yet more money on things that go "bang" ;)

A Beretta M9 (or 92) for my wife, and I am thinking something in .40 S&W (maybe a Glock) for me. Good on rifles now, as that was my focus when I got here in Jan.

FYI, Stateline gun Exchange in Emmitsburg has 4 Beretta 92s and a bunch of Taurus .40s and a couple of Glocks in .40.

I still need to get my 18" Barreled PARA FAL from DSA.

    I'm only $2,000 short :P

I'll probably settle on a receiver so I can build it up at my leisure.

I have a couple dupes that I may willing to trade while the trading is still allowed.

    I got 2 of each - M44, M39, No4 Mk1, No1 Mk3 - and something else, I gotta look.

Saiga 12 (even though I see mixed reviews about their reliability)

Baby Desert Eagle II .40 (think I'll still be able to buy this after October though)

Some of you have weird opinions on what to buy before the ban. Screw your wish list, you need to prioritize.

Pistols? Maybe if you don't own ANY and want to beat the training requirement. I have been thinking very hard about having my wife buy a threaded SR-22 just so she's got a transfer in her name going into October.

Semi-auto shotguns? Only if you desperately need a folding stock shotgun. And, to be blunt, you can live without a folding stock.

Pumps, levers, and break-opens? Forget it. Buy those later, when the IPs have no other stock for you to buy.

Here's the short list on what you should buy to beat the ban:
    1. Rifles and shotguns on the assault long guns list
    2. Semi-auto rifles and shotguns that fail the OAL test (which is mostly very recent bullpups)
    3. Semi-auto rifles with detachable mags that fail the feature test (folding stock + flash hider, mostly)
    4. Semi-auto shotguns that have folding stocks.

For me, these guns were a Tavor (OAL), SKS-M (named), Sig 556R (features), and a VEPR 54R (named).

Think Beretta 96. It is the same as the 92 only in .40 S&W. The best of both worlds.

My wife is firm on the M9 or 92, as she wants to practice her service qual with a version of what she will be shooting. I am wanting to get a .40 for self defense/CCW purposes. I will check out the 96. Thanks for advice.
