I missed the boat on these, but ordered 6 of the "Good Incomplete" U Fix Ems from Century. I figure I'll get 3-4 decent guns out of the deal, and the last 2 should be reasonably cheap to complete. Most of what I've seen on the web about the Century U Fix Ems has been good, so I'm not too worried...really, I'm not...really...
Did you get these recently? How much were they?

Not yet, CC was hit on Thursday, I'm expecting them any day now. I'll post some photos when they arrive. I'm hoping for only minor issues, but expecting the worst.

I started a thread over on Gunboards, some others have been pretty happy with what they got, so the optimist in me is feeling pretty good.

$1 charge, or the full amount charge?

$1 charge a few days after I ordered, the full charge last Thursday. I'm trying to find out how to track the shipment, but their website doesn't seem to have that option...looks like I'll just get a surprise knock on the door any day now...

Got my 6 today, they all look to be in pretty good shape, although it's hard to see under all the cosmoline (the most cosmoline I think I've ever seen on a rifle, seriously).

Missing a buttplate, a buttplate screw, a cleaning rod, but everything else looks to be there.

First photos of my "Good Incompletes" from Century; overall, I'm pretty happy with them.

First 3, top to bottom. Top one is missing cleaning rod and buttplate, and there's damage to the stock. The middle one is missing a buttplate screw. The one on the bottom looks like it might have some surface rust, although it doesn't look like it's pitted, just stained; other than that, it looks to be complete, but I haven't taken it down yet:

Next 3, all look to be complete, but again, haven't taken them apart yet:

Still have them listed on the website (Good incomplete) for $179.87 (Chinese), $219/199 for Yugos, but I don't believe that is a real time inventory.

Got them stripped down, and all the small parts cleaned and oiled. I also cleaned up one of the barreled receivers and put it back together, minus the stock, which is still soaked in cosmoline. I still have 5 more B/R to clean up, and then I get to play with the gooey, greasy stocks.

Yes, one of the safeties seems to be loose, Google tells me I need a safety spring and an education on trigger group disassembly/reassembly.

Closer examination shows that at least 2 of them have great metal finish, lots of blue and no rust. 2 more have some pretty serious pitting and very little finish left. The other two are well used, but only have a bit of pitting below the wood line. A couple are 6 digit, which is the first year of production, I believe, and lots of matching numbers on the small parts, which is pretty cool.

The one I managed to clean the bore of has a mirror finish, no pitting, and strong rifling. I'm guessing since they're chrome lined, most should be good shooters. A couple will be nice looking examples for my collection, a couple others will be plinkers, when the ammo comes down in price, and a couple will be beaters..."truck guns," in other words. Can't complain for the price.

Yes. Those will be 1956 manufacture. You didn't get any with what looks like a letter prefix, did you?

Yes, again. That ... and the fact that these are all milled and threaded ... is a huge strong point for these rifles. They were manufactured with excellent bores to begin with, and they probably were not fired all that much (in spite of looking like they went through 10 years of non-stop combat). The chromed bores are amazing. I'd be surprised if they didn't all clean up to be solid shooters.

Sounds like you did very well for yourself!

Nothing I love more than a workbench full of projects, especially ugly duckling C&Rs that are some elbow grease away from being beautiful (as only we old gun lovers can appreciate!).

Do you have a link for the u Fix Em SKSs? I'd like to get one to fix up, buyt Googled and can't find the site, or on the Century firearms page. Thanks:thumbsup:
