7 round limit but everyone can carry their ruger lcp or equivalent? Compromise? sure....

I'd actually be ok with some limitations if I could carry in MD without a draconian G+S.

I'm not onboard with sacrificing my natural right for the sake of shall-issue CCW. We have major gun restrictions and hundreds of laws in place now. When those laws and restrictions are allowed to expand through "compromise", which by design is a one-way street, then the final pit stop is a total ban on gun ownership. A CCW permit does no good when owning or carrying an appropriate gun is illegal.

You know what the most pathetic thing is?

The NY Senate is controlled by GOP and they've already rolled over

The only person more delusional than the idiots in the state government, is the governor of NY. Does he think he is going to get elected POTUS by violating peoples enumerated fundamental constitutional rights. Most of the country are not like NY big government zombies. They have known some 2nd amendment freedom. He is promoting unproven government policies that are hostile to those freedoms. I can't wait to see the governor's anti gun press conference replayed in POTUS campaign commercials...by his opponent. Upstate NY republicans that vote for this are finished in the next election. The bright side to this, I hope, is that NY is going to get a SCOTUS smack down sooner than I thought, which will effect other states and cities. Wow never underestimate the arrogance and stupidity of your opponent.

NYSRPA reported that NY passed the bill 43 to 18 just now. This was just be the REPUBLICAN CONTROLLED senate vote. The Democratic assembly vote is in the morning.

I wish these people would just be honest and say, "We want to reduce the maximum capacity of magazines from 10 to 7, not because it will make people safer, but because it will inconvenience gun owners and manufacturers,"

What they "want" is to eliminate the private-ownership of firearms.

Yeah, it'll prob pass unanimously in the Assembly and get signed in seconds.

This is a big, but expected, loss.

Cuomo wanted to pass it quickly so there could not be a "run" on assault weapons or ammo.

Makes me wonder about Republicans at the national level...but I don't know the history of NYS Republicans. Maybe they were always anti-2A?

On the bright side, some of the law's provisions seem similar to Chicago ala McDonald.

WOW. I hope everyone in New York who isn't on welfare makes a mass exodus to other states that could use the jobs. That is ridiculous.

...as he tries to address what he estimates is about 1 million assault rifles in New York state... The governor confirmed the proposal... called for... grandfathering in assault weapons already in private hands.
WELL, you sure solved THAT problem, genius...

The legislation also increases sentences for gun crimes including the shooting of a first responder that Cuomo called the "Webster provision." Last month in the western New York town of Webster, two firefighters were killed after responding to a fire set by the shooter, who eventually killed himself.
Yup. This is definitely going to make New York safer... I don't see anything wrong with it, but it just reeks of fail.

magazines would be restricted to seven bullets
Okay honestly, how many manufacturers actually make 7 round mags other than for like single stack 1911's and sub-compacts?
