Technically, no. But look to the nebulous definitions of "Youth Center"...there is none.

    Parks?

I'm sure that would be up to localities to decide.

This is the smartest gun control bill I have read in a long, long time. Smart, as in, "We need to worry about it coming back in the future."

That's what we get from a little needle neck lawyer with a IV after his name...just saying.

    100% all good points!
One of the reasons I carry is for my childern's safety. Also the penelty for making a mistake on where to and not to carry is basicly you loose your guns.

this bill needs more clarity to it.

Chuck E Cheese restaurants have liquor licenses.

There are quite a few mom & pop grocery stores in Charles County that have on-off liquor sales. This Bill would require me to leave my gun in the car or drive 10 miles out of my way to get a loaf of bread.

An armed-robber would only need a list of the county liquor licenses to find all of the "Safe Spots" to hold up.

Chuck E Cheese probably qualifies as a youth center.

Also, how does restricting a fundamental right in a movie theater have anything to do the the interests of the State?

Baltimore City has several Youth Recreation Centers, some run by the police, some by the city. That and places like YMCA's are what they mean, probably

You are giving MD too much credit. Always remember, they don't want you to have a gun period. They will push the boundaries to be as all encompassing as possible. So while I agree, they probably did intend that, they would take the opportunity to expand the legal definition at the drop of a hat.

A question-- if this goes through, removing the "good and substantial reason " clause, does the Wollard appeals process continue?

I believe it would kill it, which is (I think) the real reason for this bill. Restrictions galore, training requirements (even to renew), and then they will just add back G&S next year. It's for the children!

My home is a certified Maryland Foster Home and it probably qualifies as a youth center too... [Ding-Dong Ding-Dong] ...Be right back, someone's ringing my door bell. It's six MD State Troopers dressed in tactical gear. Should I be concerned?

The state could essentially say that the case is no longer required and the appeal is no longer necessary.

Even worse, MD could ask the 4th circuit to set aside Judge Legg's verdict since G&S is no longer on the books.

To make the screwing complete, MD could reinstate G&S and we would be back to square one.

Sorry, I don't subscribe to that sort of tinfoil hat pessimism. If that were the prevailing attitude in Md, there would be no hunting, no ranges to belong to, and I would not currently own the weapons I now posess.

Yes, this state is more restrictive than some, or most, if you must, but it is also less restrictive than some. The reactionary wings of BOTH SIDES of this issue are to blame, but with time and patience, I believe an accord acceptable to all can be reached.

I give whoever crafted this a lot of credit: it tries to make pro-gun people happy by giving them carry, but it tries to keep anti-gun people happy too by severely limiting it. They're playing both sides.

I give MSI/SAF/et al. a lot of credit too: the fact that our anti-gun legislators even introduced this means that they see the writing on the wall. This time last year, we wouldn't even have gotten their attention, now they're trying to accommodate us (albeit backhandedly).

This weekend and this winter will be...interesting....

As I said a few pages ago CA4 is our best hope of something meaningful.

How do we kill this thing?

Not sure I agree completely - another viable option is to negotiate the content of the bill by supplying our own amendments through our own representation.

Afterall we could to the 4th circuit or the Supreme Court and lose at which point we have a real problem.
