cant be that quick.. still need to do the background checks..

In this day of computers....No reason why a background check can't be done on the spot.

Count on AT LEAST 4 months. I bet longer with the number of people who will be applying

    App says 90 days...but I don't see a time limit in the statute...anybody?

Question: The application pg 13 says: State of Maryland County of __________ but I am getting this notarized out of state, should I simply have the notary cross out Maryland and write the applicable state?

Yes. The Notary you use will know that.

took a brief look.. seems its only one page you have to fill out..

I pre-filled mine today, and was amazed at how stilted the forms were to "business" need and away from personal.

For the pages that don't apply, what to do? I'm thinking a header of "PERSONAL REQUEST - PAGE NOT APPLICABLE" or some such??

If we collectively think flooding the system will have a real effect, I'll pop for it and get things in order.

Waiting for the wisdom of MSI............

I think the average person will have 3 pages...7, 12 and 13. Some may have to use page 10 as well.

If anybody answered me previously, I missed it....Will they mail me an app packet so that I have the print cards? I'll send an email and request one...see what they say.

    "Delegate Michael Smigiel

In response to everyone asking whether to file for permits to carry. YES! Everyone who has applied and is waiting call or write and ask that the permit be expedited and granted per Judge Legg's decision. If you cc: me copies of your letters and requests I can track them and be able to put pressure on the State Police to ensure compliance with the court's decision. It is true the court could stay the order until the appeal is heard but until that happens, if it ever does, the order is in place. Let's show the State the extent of it's citizens' desire for the right to exercise their inalienable rights to self defense through an uninfringed right to carry."

Doesn't say anything about those who haven't applied yet....

The bill is moot thanks to Woollard. There is literally no good that can come from HB45 in my opinion.

Mine opinion too, But Del Smigiel is calling for people to light up the switchboards at the house committee on his facebook.

Wondering what MSI's official stance is?

If MSI says drop HB45, i need some more help over on Delegates Smigiel, Dwyer, and McDermotts facebook pages.

Perhaps we should e-mail the delegates on "our side" who are pushing HB45 and ask them to let the courts decide this?

So whats the official position on HB45? Drop it?

I have some attorneys working on opinions for us. What I am reading so far convinces me that all four of those bills are potential suit killers.

I respect the opinions of the people that are feeding me this information.

    I am not an attorney.

I don't know if it has already been covered, I'm sure it has but I'm not looking throu all these pages to see, so I'll ask. Anyone know where to get the passport photos taken at?
I'm gonna print an application off and start filling it out.

Take them yourself and print them out at Walgreen's or on your own printer. Computer generated photos are acceptable.

Just an update that I thought I would share, the phone calls in support of HB-45 are coming into Judiciary one about every three minutes. The secretary has about six pages phone calls. When I walked by all she did was look up and while smiling said,
    "winning!"

I can smack my own peepee, thanks...

When I hear people talking about HANDING it in at MSP, it becomes a confusing issue.

Sorry, you said "any barracks", the website states:

"Applications should be mailed to the Division. Personal visits are not encouraged and will not decrease the amount of time it takes an application to be processed."

People (not you) have been asking really petty (dumb) questions all day long, just generally lazy stuff....

I just dropped my MD permit app into the mail. I am giddy with the thought I have a chance to get a MD permit (long shot though it is at this time). A few observations:drool:

    1. Ended up going to get my prints scanned electronically at one of the listed providers as the troopers wouldn't do my prints until Weds and I couldn't wait. What a scam, $67 for the prints! Just another hurdle you will have to climb after March 19th. Even more BS they claim the prints are only good for 72 business hours. If you don't get your app to the MSP by then the prints must evaporate.

    2. Reason listed for permit per the MSI email: "Self Defense and other lawful purposes". On the additional comments page I wrote: Per Wollard vs Sheridan decision on 3/5/2012 by Judge Legg in the US District Court for Maryland. "A citizen may not be required to offer a "good and substantial reason" why he should be permitted to exercise his rights. The rights existence is all the reason he needs"
See attached decision, page 20 Highlighted section.

I feel like am 9 again and just ordered my first whoopee cushion from the back of a comic book. I checked the mail box as soon as I got back from the Fedx office to see if my permit had arrived.:fingerscrossed:

Might be a good idea to put a sticky up with the WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN and HOW to submit a CCW application. Might stop some of the same old questions. Lock it so no new posts can be added and bold it really big. Have a link to the online forms etc as well.

I've been debating all day, I guess I'm going to apply just to provide support. If this causes me legal headaches I'm going to be pissed. Can anyone reassure me that the MSI / Smigiel requests are honest and not politically manipulative?

Yes, I can be a little paranoid with some things.

Got my character references lined up, now its just fingerprints, notary and pictures.

    Thanks.
