thanks a lot everyone. I definitely feel more comfortable selling the rifle now.
as for the whole anti- theory. just chalk questions like this up to the fact that I have owned no guns up until 3-4 months ago and therefore, have basically zero knowledge about anything related to them.
thanks again!
JMoon, that is not a good way to get started here. It is a 10/22, not a rare, hard to find rifle. You made a deal and gave your word. A man is as good as his word. Whether you need the money now or not is not the point. You committed to selling to j h smith. You should have kept your word and sold him the rifle as per your agreement. You could have replaced the rifle for only a little bit more than what you sold him that rifle for. My word is worth more than a few bucks to me.
I've had buyers back out after hitting commit to buy. This sort of backing out of buying/selling in the classifieds happens more than you think. Though I agree, it's bad form.
j_h_smith, check with Duffy's on a 10/22. They were running a deal on some Takedowns on Memorial Day.
somehow my life is also everyone on this forums business, when I know none of you...sorry, I didn't realize that was the case.
as for karma, you are acting like I stole something from you when I in fact did not. I did not do anything wrong, I don't care about the 'creed' the forum follows regarding sales. I no longer need to sell my rifle, so why would I? stop being mad at me that you waited until the last day to get your son a birthday present.

I left my phone number in a PM to him on Friday evening along with how best to do the transfer. I didn't get a phone call and had to learn of his decision in a PM.
I gave my son one of mine and I'll look for another for me. This was just a last minute idea to give the boy something else for him to shoot. I may just get the SS Take Down. Just a thought.
