These people really think a pamphlet would've stopped the guy who shot up the Capital Gazette?

    1st Amendment weeps.

    ...

On appeal, we review the district court’s interpretation of the pamphlet de novo, and
on that basis we also determine its meaning as a matter of law. See Planned Parenthood
    Minn., N.D., S.D. v. Rounds, 686 F.3d 889, 894, 906 (8th Cir. 2012) (en banc). In that
posture, we conclude that the pamphlet does not reach as far as the plaintiffs maintain and
that any reasonable reader would understand from the pamphlet that it only gives the
message that because firearms are the leading means by which suicide is committed,
firearms should be stored safely to reduce suicides by firearms. That conclusion, we
believe, is supported by the text of the pamphlet.

Am I the only person that thinks this is not a good look for pro-2A to put up a fight against these pamphlets? It makes us look like unreasonable gun zealots when we’ve got much bigger issues at stake.

Here is a pamphlet that should be distributed more frequently.

I'm confused, I buy ammo in AA County and have never been given these.

I think a better response is for MSI to provide their own pamphlet for distribution alongside these outlining their objections.

Some plaintiffs and observers asked why suicide prevention pamphlets aren't mandatory at hardware stores, liquor stores, bars, pharmacies, and car dealerships.

People buy rope, liquor, pills, and cars. All are used to commit suicide.

Millions of gun owners have never committed suicide.

I am totally confused, so 48K suicides a year in Md. ? total and 24K by guns in MD. and of the 24K we need to hand out phablets to help solve/reduce those suicides while the other 24K go unchecked or unchallenged without even a peep of care.

Not to mention the many of thousands of china drugs killing by the hundreds of thousands

There's no doubt that this was a BS maneuver by the anti gun folks that made absolutely no sense. Only an idiot would go into a gun store, read the pamphlet, and decide maybe I don't want to commit suicide. The pamphlets aren't the stupid thing it's putting them in gun stores and not in drug stores; or heck, at every checkout counter in the County. Putting them in gun stores is clearly meant to demonize guns as the cause of suicides. If the County Council had passed a law requiring these pamphlets at every checkout counter, they would do way more in suicide prevention than just in gun stores. But no, they wanted to trigger the Pro-2A folks in to looking like we're tone deaf to suicides.

We can all agree it was a misguided law but when all the press is about how the pro-2A movement are zealots that don't like suicide prevention - well, that just means we took their bait for them to beat on that message. I think we have to be more discriminating in how we engage with the legal system and the media.

YAY DAVE!!!! I am so glad we are still able to enjoy your company.

I still remember my 2 worst bouts of pain ( other than when my low back began going out from 17 yrs old on )
My experience has been to stick with Tylenol and Ibuprofen unless my back gets super tweaked and spasms into a human Z.
I have had Oxy then I think, and a round of Prednisone.

The past 10 years has seen my pain level increase and range of motion decrease as far as leg squatting up and down or stretching to get on and off extension ladders, ladder jacked walk boards, to do my remodel work,
This side of growing inability to do things for myself gives me disappointment, as I no longer feel safe doing roofing or even possibly siding and other high work. WHICH SUCKS. Oh and I hope I will still be able to ride my Harley without needing surgery to do so the next time.

Somehow I need to see if I am only suffering from the spinal/ disk issues or is the hip stuff arthritis, etc.

It would be nice to have a brief description if what this thread is about.

I clicked the link, which downloaded some sort of pdf. I absolutely loath pdfs. They clutter up my computers, usually for no good reason. Many pdfs are less than a page in length; why use the pdf format? Others are 50 pages or more. That's fine if it's something I want to read or at least skim, like the Bruen decision. But it would be nice to know what I'm downloading ahead of time.

Now I have to hunt down this file that’s cluttering up my phone so I can delete it, and I still don't know what this thread is about.
