For a large part of my life I have been involved with computers. They can and do occasionally go haywire.

    That is not my issue.

My issue, is how come it is ALWAYS REPORTED as turning GOP votes to democrap? NEVER the opposite way around.

This stinks in more ways than one. I believe this is being driven from the very top. This is how they work. Conservatives go after voter verification? NO PROBLEM. We can just make the voting machines work for us. It only has to happen 1/100 times to be effective. Maybe even less than that for a close race which this will be.

Someone better call this crap out.

If you haven't noticed votes being swapped the other way around you haven't been paying attention. It happens in both directions, but only gets reported, or noticed, when it goes in a direction the observer finds objectionable.

I too am in IT, and have been concerned about electronic voting systems from day one. I have personally experienced vote swaps, in BOTH directions. (Contradictory to my being more left leaning than many members of this forum, my votes don't belong to any one party.)

This is a subject that I am very close to tinfoil hat wearing status over, so I will shut up now. :)

My sister in law voted early in Bel Air yesterday. Went to vote for a Republican candidate on the ballot but the Democrat was filled in when she clicked on the Republicans (Barry Glassman County Executive) name. She kept pushing the candidates name with the same result. She clicked on write in and the vote was taken away from the Democrat and entered in write in. She then pressed below the Republican candidate name and it registered for the Republican.

She brought it to the attention of the election judges who were quite shocked by it and said that it was the first time that anybody had mentioned a problem with the voting machine all day. The judges took the machine out of service.

Double check your vote don't assume anything. Make sure your vote counts.

I would have raised ****ing hell if this happened to me. Might go vote early today...

Having experience with industrial grade touchscreens, that is literally what happens with uncalibrated screens. No tinfoil there. They will drift out over time. They will tend to read presses higher than they really are. It's less surprising when dems are listed above republicans. If republicans were listed first, we'd be hearing an opposite outcry.

Having said that, wtf are ill-kept voting machines doing on the floor???

Yes there is. It's called vote buying, which so-often people on here say is already happening. Dirty voters could reliably sell their votes, since the vote buyers could be sure the voters did what they were being paid to do.

Violence is also courted by voter receipts. With a paper receipt, voters are subject to coercion by threats of violence: "Vote for them Dems or we'll burn your house down!" Then they would have to show the receipt to get the thugs to back down.

Without receipts, coercion is almost impossible, and vote-buying is very uncertain. Nobody but the voter knows which way they voted behind the voting booth curtain.

Hence the secret ballot. Corecion is still possible but easy to evade.. in NYC you register Democrat if you want a plush job.

How you vote is another matter..

The problem goes beyond touch screens. It is not possible to verify an electronic ballot without compromising secrecy.

Someday maybe... but not at today's state of the art. And lets not forget deliberate interference from say forgien intelligence...

Oh, I get that. I'd rather my vote be chiseled into stone and I'd want to see it counted myself...

If the R candidates loose in this election, perhaps it would be wise to "FILE A CLASS ACTION SUIT" in regard to this election and hold the results in limbo until the issue can be resolved and have the proper non-rigged election at a later date. Also those that are responsible for rigging the machines and/or knew of it, from the bottom all the way to the top, for the shittards winning by rigging the machines be charged, tried, and hopefully found guilty with rigging the election which I think is a felony, and serve their time in the butt slammer's general populous. Any and all defense costs of those accused/charged will be absorbed by the charged person(s) and not one fukkin' red damned cent will come from the taxpayer's money for their defense.:mad54:

There would need to be an immediate confiscation/collection of all voting machines in those districts so they could be reverse engineered in order to find out what really went on.

Way too many statewide instances for this to be an anomaly.

Your last sentence is so true.

I think the Hogan camp and all the other R's in this race NEED to jump on this matter immediately.

If this is happening now during the early voting as it is, can you imagine how much it could/will be happening on voter's day (11/04)???

These are excellent points - so then, how does a voter know that his/her votes are being recorded correctly? Without a paper ballot, one that the voter can actually see, you can't.

There is no way that, after you eject that electronic ballot card, you can be certain that your votes were recorded properly.

The only possible solution is to produce a paper ballot, which the voter can visually check, which is then handed in to the judges.

What bothers me the most, is that these flips happened to be caught by vigilant voters who were watching the screen.

Imagine how many flips took place and never got noticed due to inattention, being in a hurry, or, dare I say, trust.

I saw a video of someone "voting" and it doing this. It looked like they "fat fingered" it.

Im not saying there is NOT a problem, but maybe the quantity is now being "over spoken" due to peoples own mistakes?

    I dunno

If that is the case why aren't we hearing about Ds flipping to Rs. Not a single case - if there was the media would be on it.
