As others have said, ammo sales is a tough business. Unless you can sell it for less than the cheapest guy online + shipping, you aren't going to move much product. You will also be competing directly with brick-and-mortar places like Bass Pro and Dick's, who can leverage huge buys to get a few more pennies off the cost of each round.

dicks ammo prices suck, I can beat them any day of the week.

Several things $$$$ to think about...

#1. Finding a building to rent given the volatile nature of ammo...

#2. The cost of Insuring your merchandise...

#3. The cost of insuring the building...

#4. Zoning regulations for volatile products...

#5. Securing the building from break ins & thieves...

I suggest you visit Target Master in Chadds Ford Pa to see how much space & ammo is required to display & stock a good assortment of ammo...

I think the OP realized it was a silly idea because he hasn't responded.

What about a mobile deliver van that sells ammo door to door??

Just sell it out of your Trunk in Baltimore City. Plenty of repeat customers, I would guess.

Sell handloads out of your trunk, tell them they are special killer loads,
by that I mean full case loads of Bullseye, down side not many repeat customers, upside less illegal guns on the streets of Baltimore.

Be nice, the young kids have utopian like dreams as shown on almost every other post. ;) Not that that's a bad thing but once reality sinks in even utopia isn't always what it's cracked up to be.

By just selling ammo, do you think you can generate enough profit to even sustane the rent? I said that based on the assumption that you will be renting a place and doing this for profit. I would say over 70% of consumers are purchasing ammo online.

This might work in New York where law obiding citizens must buy their amp at their local gun stores or have it shipped to a FFL.

I ship ammo to FFLs in NY all the time for people who make internet purchases. As long as they can find a dealer that is ok with helping them out....

It might work in combination with selling other precious metals as investments. Gold, silver, platinum... lead. That way you are not tied to firearms and accessories. Picture a jewelry store type setting where you can show off the finer calibers (like 22lr) under a glass case along side the bullion.

Great idea, but sadly the politicos in MD will tax and regulate the hell out of you to put you out of business.

Whenever I see thread titles like this, I always look at the OP's post count first.........

"Can a person open an ammo only store"? Of course, it's a legal product subject to state laws for retail operations. Just like one can open a white bread only, postage stamps only, or a men's socks only store. It just may require a whole 'lotta thought and may not be a very good idea......:innocent0
