While I never considered Berry's to be a target grade bullet, until now I never had occasion to weigh and measure them. I am working on some 300 BO sub loads and didn't want to break the bank on jacketed bullets so I got Berry's. After some fliers in my first batch, I decided to weigh them and found six different weight groups with up to a 2 grain spread. Additionally, I found their diameters to range from .3073 to .3076 and never a .308 even.

This is the first time I have ever used their rifle bullets. I have used their pistol bullets from time to time but I was just shooting IDPA targets and didn't look for tight groups.

I guess I will have to spring for some jacketed bullets to get some better consistency.

I've always use Leatherhead now Gallant coated 225g bullets for plinking subs. I did have to buy a sizer for them, as they were always wider do to the PC. They ran pretty good.

    Their site says oos.

They are out of them but I put a subscription in for when they are back in stock. Thanks for the tip.

I really didn't want to buy another mold in this stage of my life. I may be forced into it though considering the prices of bullets these days.
You need at least one mold for each thing you shoot as well as dies or a Lee loader. Be prepared because there will be a lot of people with nothing to shoot once the store shelves run dry.

And you know the Democrats want the shelves to dry up so our freedom dispensers become mere clubs.

How far off of a flier are we talking? I never had any issues running a sample pack of 100 ct. 30 cal 125 grain berries projectiles, but my standards was a 8" steel target at 200y off the bench, pushing them at around 1600 fps. I dont really shoot plated rifle bullets because I cast my own, but I did run into issues with xtreme 165 grain projectiles being all over the place when I was running bolt action only 350 legend subs, with the occasional flier. Some were measuring at .355" and some at .357". Granted, these were "blems" I secured from american reloading. I now just cast all my rifle projectiles and all fliers produced from them are all called for because I made them :D

I never even wanted to reload and after the supply chain problem and seeing how venerable I, or the family, could be. I started reloading and casting bullets. Growing food too, but that is another story.

Used to hunt with Remington core-lokts and those have gone from $17.99 to $28.50 and that is like a 60% price jump. Ammo is ridiculous now.

Actually, I am getting out of reloading, little by little. After doing it for over 60 years, I am winding down. I now only reload (and make bullets for) only 8 calibers (down from a high of 53 some many years ago).

Once I get my 300 Bo dissent pistol tuned in, it will probably be used mostly as a truck and house gun. That's why I was using Berry bullets instead of making my own. I have found that tuning an AR suppressed pistol or subs is a little more involved than your average reloading workup. ;)

John have you tried extreme bullets they have FMJ. I recently switched from Berry's to them for my .500 S&W and they are very consistent.

I've heard good things about Blue bullets, comes out to around 14 cents per round/1800 if using coupon blue10 if you're just looking for plinkers.

I've loaded a lot of Blue bullets in the past(9mm). They work fine. The only problem with them I had back then was, they turned your fingers blue. Other than that, I'd say give them a try. The blue washes off easily.
