I'm not sure what they were coated with, but yeah, they were the only"coated" bullets I had that problem with. It could be they've fixed that be now. It's been some years.

My neighbor said he has 3 lead pots and all I need is the mold for the style bullets I like he is more than happy to let me use his stuff. Might have to take him up on that for a few handgun calibers.
I was brought into reloading at a young age and, at the time, thought that reloading was only to save money. As I grew up and started competing, I found how much more accurate my loads were from store bought.
My first casting lessons were from a Kentucky rifle and we casted on the kitchen stove. We also made our own bullets for the Lugers and Mausers that made their way back during WWII. No one sold 9x19 or 8x57 back then.
Now that I think about it, sitting behind those casting, holding gang molds, is probably what caused me to get arthritis in my shoulders.

The first time I cast bullets, it was for a Colt 1851 navy. Melted the lead over a fire out behind the garage. Come to think of it, the gun may have been new, I'm old.
