That storm that hit here was mainly an ice event. The roads were sheets of ice yesterday and it was around 20 degrees all day. I wouldn't have driven a car on them even if I had one!

I was hoping to go out for the muzzleloader opener on the 1st but it looks like a real snowstorm will be here on Monday. I might not get out until later in the week.

Went out and cut off the antlers of an 8 point that was hit by a car and was in a ditch by a cornfield out here in Iowa. They're pretty big and will make great rattlin' antlers for whenever! I'll post a pic of them when I get a chance.

The muzzleloader season is in effect on the area I'm hunting so I hope to get one before the season ends on the 22nd.

Report: We have a White Christmas here in western Iowa. It started snowing hard yesterday morning and didn't let up until early afternoon. I didn't want to even try to drive in the stuff. The sun came out at around 2:30 PM so I went to Omaha to look at handguns at Cabela's.

On I-29 there were cars all along the road that had driven off either side of the highway. There was also one semi that was on it's side on the side of I-29. It looked like one of those trucks on the Weather Channel's "Highway Through Hell"!

They were getting it out when I came back later that night.

I hope to get a couple of more hunts in before the bow season ends on Dec. 31.

I should make it clear that the cars that were off the road would have to be towed off at some point. There was even one truck that I thought should've been able to get out. He was in the middle of the interstate.

Yeah, it's a great Christmas- I got my CCW card yesterday! :party29:

I want to report that I feel my hunting season surpassed my expectations! It was cut short by a car accident and my hunting truck breaking down but I'm looking forward to scouting the area this year and going out again next season.

I was driving at night to a HS basketball game in light snow and saw a MONSTER Buck in the shadows next to the highway. His rack was enormous and I'm going to try to find the shed in the next month or so.

That's going to be my target for next season.
