The Venezuelan Mauser (7x57); what model is it??? By any chance the Model 1952???

It unfortunately does not specify which model. Competitors write down what rifle they were competing with, and the CMP enters it as written.

A Colombian Mauser placed 15th and a P'14 placed 41th. But other than that, the top scores are overwhelmingly K31's, Swede Mausers, and M1917's. Richard placed 92nd with his M1917. The highest a Mosin shooter placed was 178th.

Ken, that Venezuelan 7x57 Mauser; did you actually see that gun??? The reason I'm asking is back in the day (early 50's) Venezuela contracted with FN to build about 200 (maybe up to 400) model 98 7x57 Mausers in an odd configuration. The differences as compared to a standard 98 7x57 Model 1924 Venezuelan Mausers were a 29" barrel (yes, rather odd looking in a standard 1924 type stock) and rear sight that was also adjustable for windage (yeah, another oddity). These guns were supposedly contracted and used in the 1952 or 1954 Pan American games. These guns DO exist as I've seen and have had in inventory several of them 20+ years ago; wish I had kept one.

Nah, I wasn't there for the VMR Match. I left on the morning it happened.

This gun is more accurate than I am: (cause my eye site is getting older)

My son (who is in his mod-20's) can shoot the s**t out of it!

After that is pretty much of tie (IMHO) between my Enfield, the M1903a3 and my K11 (although I haven't shot the K11 that much)

My XP-100 in .221 Fireball will shoot the wings off a Fly at 100 yards. Truth be told the Weapon is far more accrate than my ability permits. No way to blame my shotcommings on the Pistol. Love to watch that 3' Flash and what sounds like a Sonic Boom.

For a Rifle my K98 Sniper is my 1st choice, followed by my Nagant.

I'd say my Finn Remington Mosin M91 is darn accurate. Though, my 1916 no1 mk iii SMLE is surprisingly accurate (1MOA)

I dunno what my most accurate C&R gun is because in all cases I'm the limiting factor. The front sight just tremors around seemingly with a mind of its own. :)

    My most accurate C&R?

By far that's my Enfield No. 4 Mk 2 with the right loads. (If I could just hold her still when we're shooting together...)

    She's much better than I. ;)
