I went to their McLean location yesterday for the first time. J.B. and Rachel are awesome to deal with. I didnt buy much, just an M1A mag, but I spent over 30 mins chatting with them to include their new location. Glad to hear that they are expanding. Especially in the blue part of VA.

I was at the current McLean location chatting with JB on Wednesday. The liberal butthurt is worse than the article suggests. JB I a great guy.

    There's nothing like unbiased journalism.

That was a very fair article. It had the antis coming off a bit daft. Preferring a balloon store and equating a gun shop to a porn shop.

Meanwhile the owner of the gun shop came across as calm and professional. (As I'm sure he is).

    Score one for us:thumbsup:

I wish the county atty just said: 'Arlington county is open for business and any lawful company is welcome to open up an operation.' instead of implying that the county would want to do something against the store.

Apparently the "Inside the Beltway" zone doesn't know state boundaries.

Diane Warin, a resident who lives along nearby Military Road, said Friday that she had been unaware of the pending change but is “very much” against it.

“I come here all the time for the shops — Company Flowers, Portabellos,” Warin said as she headed for her car. “This is a community with a lot of families. I would not be in favor of it at all.”

So in other words, it's ok for an FFL to open, just not where there are any people.

I sure hope the landlord doesn't go back on his contract. I will be visiting them when they open just to show my support.

I can't help but pull a few excerpts from the article, and add some "commentary":

Residents … say a gun shop is simply not appropriate … where businesses such as a … hardware store…cater to the families living nearby. – Hardware stores used to be able to sell guns!

“This is in close proximity to schools and preschools.” – Good, kids will see the shop, be curious, ask questions, and maybe learn something.

Diane Warin, a resident who lives along nearby Military Road … is “very much” against it. – What road does she live on? Paying tribute to what? What profession do they practice?

“This is a community with a lot of families. I would not be in favor of it at all.” – Families can learn to shoot together. It's a great bonding experience, and useful life skill.

    All knuckleheads!

I wonder why they don't. Most independently owned hardware stores seem to be part of ACE or TruValue for the supply contracts. Got to wonder whether there is a restriction in the franchise agreements against ammunition sales and an on-site FFL in a ACE branded store.

No, Rockingham Co-op stores in VA carry firearms. They're ACE affiliated.
