Almost done restoring the latest pickup, took it apart today and cleaned everything, replaced the sling slots that were missing, cleaned the barrel, took the bolt apart and cleaned it, will take it out to the range and enjoy it soon.
My Grandmother's brother was KIA as a machine gunner in this...
Took the resnipered 1944 Izhevsk out today and shot this target at 50 yards, using the time honored box inverted and placed over a stump, may still wrap the barrel or shim it, but not a bad group for shooting standing up. Was using 1949 headstamped milsurp ammo. I really like the Ukrainian repro...
I have one of the claw scope mounts on my 22, and after firing 25 or so rounds I notice the vibration loosens the mount screws, how can I keep the mount from falling off? It is annoying to have to rezero the scope after putting the mount back on.
Picked this up from a fellow board member, sort of an interesting variant, a 1942 Izhevsk ex-PEM sniper, note the mounting holes are much closer together than the PU sniper. An interesting piece because 1942 was the last year of PEM snipers and the first year of Izhevsk sniper production. So...
Someone asked the other day about how to tell which rifles to pick out of a crate of refurbs. The following is a rough guide with values but will help you pick out a good one. This applies to the refurbs only, otherwise would be too difficult and long. I have seen examples of all of these...
Bought this brand new in the 90s? when Ithaca started producing 16 guage shotguns, was the first 16 produced in the US in many years, and maybe it was the last, I don't know. Never used it much but I still enjoy shooting it once in awhile. Marked Ithaca Gun King Ferry NY
Looks like another thousand or so Molot refurbished snipers have popped up again and are in stock at AIM, Mid 500s for Izhevsk, Mid 600s for Tula and Upper 600s for a 1942. Wonder how many more are out there waiting to hit our shores?
Well, I thought I was all set with a SSH-60 helmet that I recently bought from Ukraine. Well, after that I found a SSH-40 helmet (the original WW2 model) also on e-bay from Ukraine so now I have 2. The SSH-60 is dated 1967 and the SSH-40 is dated 1958. Not only are their differences in the...
Picked this up from a friend last weekend, was a fairly early import and has KFS Atl GA stamped in tiny letters on the barrel, produced by factory 296 in March of 1954, total mismatched serials but nice wood and bore. Somebody sprayed some of the metal with flat black, but it will wear off...
Found this at the gun store on Rosemont in Frederick, let it sit for 24 hours and then went back and got it, $138 with accessories, but it has a super bore and will make a great shooter. 1943 Izhevsk, made right in the middle of the war.
The gun shop on Rosemont ave has a nice selection of Mosins, $138 for rounds and $158 for hexes, at first it seemed expensive, but not so because the prices include all accessories and the guns have the subtle ATI import mark. One of the hexes had the East German mark. I picked up an Izhevsk...
Unfortunately I have a big head and have a hard time locating proper Soviet artifacts to use, today I finally got a 1967 SSH-60 helmet in size 3 (biggest they made) in the mail from Ukraine, got the Ushanka in Odessa a couple of year back, also the biggest the Soviets made.
Had no intention of buying anything but went into the gun store on Rosemont Ave. in Frederick and he had an almost empty crate with only three Tulas left. Had to bring this one home, should be quite accurate, not sure why everyone else who went through the crate passed on it.
Saw this and thought I would pass it along for you German fans:

Last week I put about 150 rounds of 1952 Hungarian yellow tip ammo that I pulled off a machine gun belt through my M39. The accuracy was excellent, and there was not a single misfire. If this is how unsealed 60 year old ammunition works then that sealed stuff in the spam cans is going to work...
Just got done scoping this one. Of course the purists on some sites cringe at the thought of this, but heck I just couldn't resist. Now I have a new toy that I can take to the range or out in the woods and enjoy it. This one I bought about a year ago, it had nice markings, a real super bore...
I live in Brunswick, the peaceful city on the Potomac. Last summer the Dollar General got broken into, home robberies are frequent, a few months ago two kids rode their four wheelers through the plate glass front of the High School, about one month ago somebody broke into the medical clinic and...
If I sell a C&R rifle to someone out of state (I don't have a FFL and neither do they) send it to their FFL and they have it transferred to them, suppose they decide they don't want it and choose to return it to me. Does it still have to go through a FFL even though it's being returned to the...
