Found this at the gun store on Rosemont in Frederick, let it sit for 24 hours and then went back and got it, $138 with accessories, but it has a super bore and will make a great shooter. 1943 Izhevsk, made right in the middle of the war.

strange enough I don't have a ex in my collection . Gotta find one one day.

My trick is to look into the crate of round receivers and look for ones during 1942-1944 with smooth receivers, then pull the bolts on those and look for the plugs.

I used to do this religiously but gave up after never finding an ex sniper. Guess there's a good reason why I don't buy lottery tickets!

The bigger importers (CAI, PW Arms) pull out the ex-snipers ahead of time and sell them for a premium, the smaller importers (Liberty Arms, ATI, Gibbs) do not, that is why many crates don't have them. These crates were from ATI.
