If you're eligible look at USAA. They reimburse ATM fees and you can deposit checks with their mobile app.
I haven't needed a local bank in years. The only reason I can see is convenience for the rare occasions you need a bank check.
I just submitted about a week ago. If you're training exempt the trickiest thing is finding an easy location for the prints.
Once you have your print reference number the application takes just a few minutes.
Then you wait like 3 weeks for the MSP to get through approvals.
There are 1911's that like some mags better than others.
I've got a Sig 1911 and have used the factory mags (Mec Gar), Kimber, Wilson and Chip McCormick. All have functioned just fine.
Others with more experience can weigh in - I don't know if a mag for a commander or carry lengths...
It's a risk equation for me. Before kids I had accessible loaded, accessible firearms on both levels of the house. Now I have little fingers around and I've moved to a much safer neighborhood. So the risk equation changes. There are still loaded firearms and spare mags - just not as easily...
I've got a PPQ M1 with the paddle mag release. It's all about the ergonomics and trigger. When I bought I was choosing between G19 & PPQ. The first time I picked up the PPQ it was like putting on an old pair of jeans. The awesome trigger was just a bonus.
