the Shark steam blaster worked great on my Mosin in getting all the cosmoline off and out. Took me about 30 minutes to get it fully stripped, cleaned, dried, lubed and back together.

Can someone school me on properly cleaning the Mosin? I just picked mine up and there is some light cosmoline coating, nothing too thick. If I dont plan to shoot it for a couple of weeks, should I keep the cosmoline on/in it until I am ready?

pretty much what Adams74 said. For a .22 rifle, you would simply fill out the NICS background check form and wait while the dealer is verifying the information and/or getting the ok. Once you are cleared on the background check, its a cash and carry sale, meaning you walk out with the rifle same...
yup...gotta agree on the .22. Wal-Mart usually has some decent .22's in stock priced at very affordable prices. A box of 1000's rounds of .22's wont cost you more than $15 dollars.
