Wait for a free hazmat promo from the big online dealers and buy in bulk or order with a friend and split the cost. Buy components cheap and stack them deep
I generally run either Speer Gold Dots or Federal HST in either 124gr +P or 147gr.
Anything off Dr. Roberts list is usually a safe choice:
9 mm:
Barnes XPB 115 gr JHP (copper bullet)
Federal Tactical 124 gr JHP (LE9T1)
Federal HST 124 gr +P JHP (P9HST3)
Remington Golden Saber bonded 124 gr +P...
Check out the Spiritus Systems LV-119 I love mine very modular with lots of options: covert vs overt, slick or placard or chest rig, tubes or velcro, molle or elastic cummerbund.
other options: Perroz LPSPC, Crye JPC, JPC 2.0, SPC,
Figure out what size plates you need before ordering the...
Doesn't really matter which division you start in. Pick whichever division fits your gun best.
Production: more mag changes, more complicated stage planning
Limited: scoring advantage, less reloads, faster
Ammoland, IMT and FM all have the internal step. I've seen the brass separate at the step leaving the top half of the brass stuck in the chamber but that has been mostly with guys loading 9mm major for open. I'll use it for practice and local matches but not state, section or area matches

A bit of a long shot. Do any IPs happen to have a Tanfoglio Stock II or III in 9mm in stock? Or a CZ Tactical Sport Orange .40S&W? Would prefer to buy from a local dealer instead of ordering online.
1/10 - USPSA @ New Holland looks like there is one spot left on practiscore
1/17 - Steel Challenge @ Delmarva/ESPS
There is an RO class at Guthsville Rod and Gun on 2/27-28 with two spots left. https://www.facebook.com/groups/PASCSA/?ref=browser

Isn't this what Winchester's Train and Defend line does? Cheap FMJ that matches velocity, bullet weight and shape, and recoil of the Defense hollow points.

Defensive tactics like stowing or picking up an empty mag? Or using cover when shooting at dog targets? Shooting from an inflatable tube after drawing your pistol from a cooler (stage at this years MD State Match)? Solo house clearing?
IDPA is certainly defense minded but to claim it is...
I've shoot quite a few IDPA matches there. Show time is 9am. Match starts at 10am and ends by 1pm at the latest. Good group of shooters there very friendly and welcoming. http://www.aafgidpa.com/admin/match_admin.html
Jason's right come over to the gamer side. Hang up the photographer vest for a double belt and drop offset holster. Drop mags with rounds left in them, move more than 10yds a stage, have speed actually matter, and best of all no bs cover calls because your toe was outside of cover haha...
