I am thinking about building a new deer hunting rifle with the AR platform. Is the 6.8 ok to build since it uses a different barrel, bolt, and magazine or does it still follow the hbar rule? Also, what are the advantages to it over the 300 blk round?
Thanks
Nice, he was going to do a 10.5" barrel but if he can do a rifle then he'd go 16". Any ideas on where to get a good quality 16" that won't break the bank...preferably a complete upper.
Thanks
So I was under the impression and even told by some lgs that in order to build a 300 blk it would have to be in pistol form. Is this still true or are they considered hbars? I know someone looking to build one for deer hunting and he would much rather build a rifle if he's allowed.
Problem is, if you were to follow this letter word for word than just putting a pistol buffer tube against your shoulder would now classify that weapon as a SBR which is just crazy. Or placing any pistol against your "shoulder" at any point would make it a SBR.
Yea, the guys over on ARFCOM are saying this letter looks very fishy also and I tend to agree with that. It just looks very different from all of the previous approval letters that have been posted everywhere.
Thanks for all the quick replies!!
My lower was registered as "other" so I should be good there. So the only thing to worry about is if I want a vfg I have to be above 26"oal correct?
Building it in this configuration seems to give someone way more options than being stuck with an hbar.
Hi there, so i recently purchased a stripped lower with the intentions to just build up a Hbar. Now that I've been looking around online I see a lot of people are building their stripped lower into a pistol configuration. Am I ok just to go ahead and do that??
I was thinking maybe a sig brace...
So I'm thinking of buying a new lower now that we can purchase them and building a new AR. I want this build to have a barrel that's 14.5 pinned to 16 so that it's legal. Is this still ok to do as long as the barrel is an hbar with the new laws that have passed? Also, I can't find a 14.5" hbar...
