They'll probably say that it makes things "less" safe for the people of Maryland, and that it will put their officers superiority at risk. :innocent0

Me too. Its so screwed up that Police Officers (In Uniform) cant show up at political events to show support but the brass at the MSP (In Uniform) can show up and support other Politicians that wish to keep our rights stripped from us. :mad54:

Did you write in expressing that?? I was unaware of such and agree that it makes for a horribly biased situation.

Jason Sxxx Step in the right direction. Hoping for the best.
about an hour ago · Christopher Cxxx Could you keep us updated, J.B.?
about an hour ago · J.B. Jxxx We are well over an hour into the testimony. We've had about 6 panels of supporters speak. We still have the opponents to go.
51 minutes ago · Mark Axxx I think that the smallest group (for or against the bill) spoke first in Vallario's chamber, so if my understanding is correct this may mean there is no one there to speak against it,
46 minutes ago · J.B. Jxxx We have written testimony both for and against the bill. There are several people signed up to speak against. Including the State Police.
40 minutes ago · Mark Axxx Interesting.
34 minutes ago · J.B. Jxxx we are now hearing testimony from the opposition

    Hey that's me!!! :D

I've spoken to a few Md Troopers who were in favor of shall issue. Have yet to talk to one opposed, but all the ones I've talked to were at gun shows....

Even they see unequal treatment done by the review board. Whoever happens to get your application has a huge amount to do with the final decision. According to the last trooper I spoke to, it's a source of frustration to guys stuck doing the review. Shall issue would actually make their lives better.

Does anyone have a status of the outcome? There is nothing that I've seen in the 2 Facebook link that Krucam provided.

The next step in the process is a committee vote, if the chairman of the committee wants to schedule it. If he doesn't, the bill is dead in the water. If he does schedule a vote, it will need to pass before heading to the House floor for a final vote.

It would not be inappropriate at this time to send very polite letters to Chairman Vallerio asking him to schedule a vote and explaining how important this issue is.

    Dear Chairman Vallerio

First of all I would like to thank you for your service. As a Maryland native of the eastern shore I know involvement in our state government does
not come without personal sacrifice. It can be too easy to criticize those in our government today.
As a business owner in Ocean City as well as a father with a large and ever growing family. I am also a Maryland Handgun Permit Holder. I am only a permit holder because of my business and the cash deposits that are involved. I am only allowed to
protect my cash , and as you are aware if I were not involved with larger cash deposits I would not be able to carry and protect my-self. One day
soon Maryland will decide too join the majority of the nation and change this ,but for now I am concerned about HB52 .
In my business in a Maryland vacation location I am aware of the feelings and attitudes of those who visit our wonderful state as well as those who
choose not to because of this very reason. Let me tell you that most all these people are professionals as well as law enforcement and a good majority
United States Military. They are not cowboys or vigilante. They are family men and women who just want the ability to protect their loved ones.
The people of Maryland feel this is a worthy bill. I ask you to schedule HB 52 for a vote and let their voice be herd.
Thank you again for your support.

    Sincerely
    01/27/2010

Just sent this . How does that sound /
