He declares his devotion to Constitutional Rights, and a wish to serve Marylanders in what is essentially an unpaid job. And for that he is labeled an ideologue, lacking in "balance", and shown the door.

Mr. Jurgena won his vote tally 23-22 but did not reach the 24 votes needed to be confirmed. Senate President Mike Miller announced he himself is a "proud gun owner" but abstained--like the coward he is--from voting on Mr. Jurgena, thus refusing to be the 24th vote because he said "the HPRB lacked balance"

Shame on the leftist Tunnel Rats in Annapolis.

Richard Jurgena, it would be an honor to join your posse when it's time to ride.

I'll miss him, but now the Senate just allowed the governor another like minded board member.

Mr. Jurgena was very very careful with his decisions and very thoughtful towards applicants.

I wish him all the best!

So, now the BS will write an opinion about how unfair the Md Gen. Assy's confirmation process was to Jurgena, because they convened a sham hearing to consider the Governor's appointment, didn't ask him even a single question at the hearing, passed the nomination to the floor of the Senate where Sen. Raskin attacked him in classic McCarthyesque style in a forum where he couldn't respond, then defeated him in a pre-planned, Kangaroo-court vote determined by the abstention of the Senate leader.

    Not.

Concise summary of how the intellectually challenged, libtard driven, Maryland Senate just summarily rejected a volunteer Patriot based on misinformation, and without ever even asking the man a single question. Truly shameful.

Thank you for your service Mr. Jurgena. Having attended and observed most of the hearings after your appointment, you did absolutely nothing wrong under the law. Your character has been assassinated for nothing more than exercising independent thought and judgment.

The Senate will have nothing to say if the Governor waits until Tuesday 04/11/16. It will be another interim appointee. He or she will be appointed and wait until the 2017 legislative session to be confirmed (along with all the other members with the exception of Jacque Cowan - his appointment ends in 2019 I believe).

Recently, Richard Jurgena stopped by the Patriot Picket at the Statehouse to express his support, and to tell us not to let up.

Owing to his pending confirmation battle we kept the visit low key and quietly snapped a pic. He simply asked us to sit on the photo until his fate was known. Today, he was victimized by Sen. Ratskin's McCarthy tactics. We can share this photo now and say we are proud to stand with him wherever the fight takes us.

We congratulate you Richard Jurgena for not hiding the 2A light under your cowboy hat. You are a great American!

I'm disappointed, but a little heartened as well.
Even Ratskin's and McFadeout's chosen target was just barely rejected.
It was not the slam dunk I'm sure they wanted or expected.
Could be a little win in there somewhere.

Nope no win here. Just the MGA showing us who is still boss.

Agreed it's a small win but I suspect it could be temporary until next session. Hogan really needs to be asked about this and let the public know where he stands (even though I doubt he will).
You just have to know that Mike & Mike will be closely watching the boards decisions. If there is an uptick in reversals over the historical past, that will be used to make the case next session for the MGA in one way or another to take control of the board.

LOL there is no win here ... it is a clear loss for us. Even I can admit this.

It's time for the Governor to stop sitting on his hands and give direction to Polozzi or replace him.

:lol2: Prob not ever going to happen ...

I agree. But since there have been NO board minutes taken and published until the current full board was seated, one overturn of an MSP LD denial would be an uptick in the trend.

I'd love to see the ladies go "full-throated Constitutional" now that they've been confirmed. Perhaps that was what they've been waiting for. Only time will tell.

Time to play games. Appoint Jack M. We all know he would never pass confirmation, so he resigns " to spend more time with his family" just prior to his name being submitted to the committee and a fresh Joe Citizen is then appointed and submitted for approval. Could be a fun year.

But the problem is we all might want Hogan to 'play games', but the reality is Hogan has already sent a clear signal. He will not 'play games'. He is going the way of 'cooperation' and 'bi-partisanship'. Hogan is not going to go off the handle because of this and tilt off 'far right'. He is going to get the next person in line who reasonably fits the demographic. Regardless of who it is, it will be better than anyone a D appoints.

    Disgusting.

My eyebrow raised upon seeing the 23-22 vote. Ho hum, a majority of those that voted, but juuuust shy of a majority of Senate members.

I'm sure the fix wasn't in, that elbows weren't twisted and/or palms greased to facilitate this BS...

Fortunately, we can rinse and repeat next year. A new interim appointee, and see you in 2017 to play all over again. :sad20:

They don't need to wait for an "uptick." In their minds there's already a problem that's begging for their attention and that they can use to make political hay.

M&Ms, the MGA, and the AG want fewer guns on the street.
    Not fewer illegal guns.
    Fewer guns.
    Period.

The funny thing is that by rejecting Jurgena the next persons term of service will go even further into the future ;)

Agreed. Many here may think so but the powers that be in the MGA are not stupid. They didn't just magically decide to politicize a board that has existed in obscurity for going on 45 years.

They are looking for scalps because the MDS/MSI/Picket pushbacks have thrown a wrench into the machinery in a way they have not seen before. The Leftists tapped into our HPRB threads, but that's because we refuse to go underground with our 2A discussions. The Beast got riled up, but the alternative is turning 2A into a secret society.

One of our Happy Warriors got sent to the sidelines, but we will find someone just as dedicated to step in. Hell, a lot of good things can happen in a year at the HPRB with a dedicated, but unconfirmed board member. We are still winning.

This is why there has to be serious efforts to get rid of people like Ron Young. Flipping one or two Senate seats is huge.

23 is half the actual body... the abstention may have killed him. Was Miller afraid to vote green, because he saw no reason to vote red??!

There are 47 Senators, are there not? That's probably why the number is 24 to pass, as that's a majority of the body.

"...Some senators raised concerns that Jurnega said in an interview with The Baltimore Sun's editorial board published Monday that his interpretation of Supreme Court rulings leads him to believe Maryland's law requiring "good and substantial reason" to get a concealed carry permit is unconstitutional..."

Interview with the BS editorial board, or BS editorial opinion urging the Senate not to confirm him?
