I took a couple of my recent purchases to the range this morning. First up is an Enfield I picked up for my birthday last week, Enfield No. 4 Mk2. An Irish contract built in 1953. All the numbers match, including the bayonet.

Next up I took my Finn Sky M28/30 with the PU scope mount added by Century. I shot this one at 100 yards using Wolf Silverbear. It is not a beauty contest winner, but it appears to be a nice shooter.

03-a3 first day at the range

The first pic (left) was at 25 yds, middle target first and then upper left.
First pic (right) was at 50yd, fired this after adding to the 25yd middle target to make sure my wood frame wasn't going to suffer the additional yardage.
Bottom photo was the last group of the day. Overall I was happy with the rifle. Bought it a week or so ago and spent the week cleaning the bore.
It's got a bubba'd stock and I intend to put it back in it's original configuration. After tracking a few stock on Ebay, just wanted to make sure it shot alright before sinking any money into it.

Nice shooting with both rifles, just picked up an Enfield No4_Mk2 myself that looks pretty good, but it's not even close to being in that nice of shape. Congrats

That Irish Enfield looks awesome. I love the second pic, however you got the colors to look like that. Some day I shall learn to take a halfway decent picture :)

Took the old Chinese Mosin out to the AGC. I shot 40 rounds of Czech silver tip at 100 yards. I managed to run out of shooting talent and threw 3 away.

Nice shooting, that Type 53 looks like it is in great shape. I grabbed 4 when they were cheap, should have grabbed 4 more.

I just thought that I'd post this pic of my FIL at our local range yesterday. This shows that you can't keep an old sharpshooter down! He's 89 years old, just had part of his left hand amputated (cancer) a few weeks ago, is in a wheelchair, and his eyesight isn't the greatest, but he drilled center of mass with every shot, using my FN Hi-Power 9mm.

Take a kid shooting. You'll be glad that you did!

Awesome! Impressive how he is not letting his health issues get him down, and I bet it made him feel great for a little while to do some shooting.

    Good job!

I overheard a guy talking about his new "moy-sen" today and I had to have a look-see. Archangel stock, banana clip and attached bipod leave no room for improvement.

In other news, I finally broke out my Argentine M1909 long rifle. It's been sitting in the safe since June 2014. 100 yards, PPU fmj.

No can defend the Archangel moise-en

Nice shooting with the Argentine, glad you finally got it dirty! Nice looking rifle.

Finally got my M48A shooting nicely with cast loads. It would NOT seal with 2400, Unique, or Red Dot (which work in almost every bolt action rifle I own). So I tried some Re-7 and 4198, and it worked great.

I was getting crap accuracy and lots of burnt necks and blowback with the other three powders. All three powders work fine in my Vz24 and K98, but wouldn't seal no matter what I did with the two Yugo Mausers. The Yugos must have more generous chambers I am guessing....

If you see that yellow box, I think it says "$2.96" on the top, which was the price my dad paid for 20 pieces of brand new SPEER brass back in the day. He also gave me an old box of 20 Winchester 8mm soft points that had a 3.xx price tag on the box. Nuts!

I can remember coming back to the U.S., at age nine, and going hunting on my grandfather's farm in SOMD. There was a place about a mile and a half from his farm that was sort of a small country store in the front, and a small watering hole for beer drinkers in the back (with the then-ubiquitous nickle slot machines). I'd walk up the highway, carrying my rifle, and plunk down 35 cents for a box of 50 .22LR cartridges (that was expensive, because I'd gotten them from the PX for a quarter). Then I'd cut back into the woods and hunt my way back to my grandfather's farm through neighboring properties.

So many things have changed in Maryland since then. Can you imagine what would happen now if a 9 year old walked down a public road alone, carrying a rifle?

Does not look like he cut the barrel or drilled the receiver. If he kept the parts, he could put it back in military configuration in less than 10 minutes.

If that's what gets him to the range so be it. We need more shooters, period.

Of course I think it's ugly as sin but it could have been MUCH worse.

True, I am all for doing whatever you want if it is reversible.

Kids can't even bite a pop tart into the shape of a gun, let alone carry one in public! Crazy times....

    Yugo M98 at 50yds

Just picked this up from the classifieds last week, first time out.
30 rounds at 50yds, the lower left group was the best and was achieved aiming at the bottom edge of the paper, centering on the above bullseye.
