I would say more like what CAN'T you build one into? Be cool to have one in 7.62x54R ... :)

    AR10 in 54R??

Greg, not counting wildcat cartridges. There's a lot of options, and these are the ones off the top of my head....

    .22lr
    .204
    .223/5.56
    300blk
    7.62x40 hrt
    7.62x39
    6.8spc
    6.5grendel
    .458 socom
    .50 beo
    9mm
    .45acp

If you're staying with an AR-15 lower, you'll be restricted by the size of the mag well. Cartridges longer than 45mm simply won't fit.

If you're just playing in the AR-style platform family ... yeah, pretty much "all of them."

    50 AE
    500 S&W
    7.62X25

In addition to Bradmac's list, these are some others I have seen and/or fired. Tony Rumore has built some crazy stuff. I know he has done some others, but i haven't seen them.

Make up some wildcat calibers. lol

Or just make up some more animals to go with calibers.... And Country variations... And don't forget extra adjectives

    22 Bobcat
    22 Lynx
    22 Housecat
    357 Barracuda
    222 hawk
    375 Chupacabre

    303 Scottish
    7.5x55 Norwegian

    38 extremely special
    38 Very Super
    357 Magnum Plus
    300 Brownout
    458 Delta SOCOM

Or just go to CH4D and browse the obsolete caliber list of over 2000 calibers :)

*IF* we limit to " and able to function as a selfloader " , you are limited primarily by COL and base dia . If I sat down and put my mind to it , I could tripple or quadruple Brad's list , and you would still have the possability of infinate Wildcats.

Dpending on how much you wish to limit yourself you could specify : 1. Offered by Class 7 as a complete firearm at some point in time OR offered as loaded ammo.2.Both complete firearms AND ammo. 3. Same as #2, but multiple sources. 4. Ctg offered in complete firearms AND SAAMI spec'd .

Field will consist of : 1. Every length of .223 based cases , every variation of shoulder angle/ moved , necked up and down. 2. X39 Russian head size , with same varriables. .30Rem ( aka 6.8SPC ) headsize , same variables . WSSM headsize , same variables . . And Beowulf based , and .450 based , and 9mm based , and .etc , etc , etc .

When you're talking about semi-auto functionality, you can do pretty much anything that fits in the magazine (which, IIRC, is something like 2.25" cartridge OAL). Single shot or bolt-action mag-fed... the limit is pretty much the moon.

HK stainless mags are a hair over 2.3". :)
