I just had to show this off.

This is a 10 shot group fired from sandbag out of one of my older builds consisting of a stripped lower and a for the most part complete JSE nitrided m4 profile upper.

I always got decent accuracy out of her, but I recently put a piece of gorilla tape on each side of the upper to take up the slack when the upper and lower are mated together.

This was shot with Wolf Gold brass ammo

I put the target out at 100 just to make sure it wasn't a fluke and got similar performance. I honestly can't believe how good this rifle is shooting since the mod with cheap factory ammo.

It beat the HBAR chrome lined barrel I brought out all to crap accuracy wise.

Mainly I wanted to post this thread to show that number one, JSE sells some decent stuff, and number two as I have been saying for a long time now Nitrided barrels are the way to go- I'm coming up on something like 1500 rounds through that JSE upper and the bore looks as bright and sharp as the day I bought it, with minute tool marks in the Leade still visible.

    I'm just so damned excited!!!

Anyone else who wants to show off, post your goups!

 That's crazy good shooting. You were definitely doing your part - the gear might also be good but the best rifle is only as good as the shooter pulling the trigger.

    Nice job!

Too bad you had those 4 flyers, the other 6 were tight.

I KNOW! If I had stopped at 5 it would have been one small ragged hole and I would have framed this for proof.

I didn't feel like that would have been honest though- and more than anything I kept shooting just to see if it was some kind of crazy fluke

    Thank you much, sir.

It's just that after seeing SO MANY people blame their poor shooting on the gun, I find it safer to blame good accuracy on the gun, and take the rap and assume I am the weak link if the groups are bad.

The second best group of the day was a 5 shot group of PMC out of the same rifle measuring about .75 inches after I moved the target out to 100 yds

    Nice shootn' amoebicmagician

    Here is one of mine

10 rounds at 50 yards with my Savage Anschutz Mark 10A. I have been meaning to get some match ammo to see how tight of a group I can get out of this.

man, that's with off the shelf CCI?

    That's nuts.

For some reason I can not shoot .22 accurately past around 80-100 yards.

I don't know what it is, but my groups go to crap past a certain distance.

At first I thought I just was no good with iron sights without a good clear focal point, but I've mounted some optics on what I thought were accurate rifles and I just can not for the life of me get tight groups at or past 100 yards. What is your secret?

just measured. .34 center to center

It still makes me giddy seeing it.

I didn't build that rifle for accuracy, I just built it out to be as light as possible using an aluminum lower- it's not even free floated!

This will be the second best group I've ever turned out of an autoloader, and the first may or may not count depending on who you talk to.

I was just starting to use nitrided barrels in AK builds, and after pinning the barrel but before fitting the gas block or any of the barrel hardward I got it into my head to fire the barrel before I hung all the stuff on it and messed up the harmonics.

I'm not explaining this well- okay, so from the front trunnion back, the rifle is complete, but forward of it, there is no hardware on the barrel- no gas block, no muzzle brake, no nothing.

The barrel was a virgin Yugo that had been sent out for nitride treatment by the seller.

I used brass cased Yugo surplus for the test, thinking that the barrel would be designed around that exact ammo.

Well, I guess it was- that barrel shot so well I thought I was missing the damned target because all I could see was the one hole.

After being completed, she's still a good shooter, just not amazing- but I've been a believer in barrel harmonics since that day. I also learned that day (or rather three days later) that that yugo surplus is corrosive. The barrel was fine, but rust started almost IMMEDIATELY on the unfinished metal of the inside of my receiver and rails.

More than 10 rounds, less than 20 rounds. Forget exactly how many were fired, think it was 16 or 17. Rem 700 SPS, 20" .308, Weaver glass, XLR Carbon chassis, Timney flatbow trigger. 168gr SMK. 100 yards.

Josh's rifle almost gets boring to shoot after a while, it's a nice little build he put together. Made me focus on getting the .260 done after shooting his rifle.

OP - That's not bad shooting at all, there's more to be found, but that should give you the motivation to keep chasing that dragon.

Oh yeah ...one handed, with one eye closed at 25 yards while going through nicotine withdrawls and getting pelted by AK brass at Myrtle Grove.
