I think he is waiting. Making a move too soon could show his hand and allow the douche in charge to fly one more middle finger salute before leaving.

    This, 110%.

2A is way down the list... but it IS on the list.

I'm thinking we need a 2-3 year plan, which will allow us to do our thing in the legislature... Little victories for us, big defeats for them.

IMO, Hogan will back us up, but ONLY if we show patience and a willingness fend for our own interests in the meantime.

The big thing we need, though, is what we started 2 years ago... continual communication and presence for the GA, but now we have 69 new people we need to get to know us (and they're not all going to be friends).

We have shown we can do this, and today is the beginning.

Also, keep in mind that a new MSP head is not needed to improve the 2A climate in our state. He could be looking to make good with the current head and see what progress can be made using the existing superintendent. This would garner some possible support from O'Malley/Brown loyalists.

    Always with the negative waves...

I don't think they speak negative waves but waves of reality....

I have lived here all 62 years of my life. I grew up in an area where we drove to high school with shotgun racks in our pickup trucks that contained real, honest to goodness shotguns.....and no one gave it a second thought...

That era has come and gone...not to be seen in these parts again.

Any attempt by Hogan to make self defense a G&S reason for a CCW would only be temporary...the GA is not going to stand by and let that happen....and the counter argument that once you have something it is hard to take back is a load of BS.

I remember going through that back in the 70's. Motorcycle helmets were mandatory. Through lobbying efforts by rider groups and ABATE the law was repealed for a short period of time...eventually quickly reinstated..

I strongly believe that no matter the efforts...the only thing that will make Maryland a shall issue state instead of a may issue state is a Supreme Court decision on the carrying of guns outside the home...

I think some of us had commented on this some while ago. I agree this should be the first tactic.

Couldn't disagree more. Too much of a chance expecting a different outcome without a personnel change. Besides, it will be much harder to fire the existing Superintendent without a lot of bad press later if he doesn't "convert." Fresh start with someone that can be trusted to infringe the least. IMO

That still irks me... but what's done is done.

I'd not be surprised if this was timed (read: "directed") in order to push Hogan to a decision.

Fortunately, there is still plenty of time to make it... well after the current despots are out.

Could he have been told to resign?

Well I'm sure when Brown loss he started getting his things together. I'm willing to bet that Governor Hogan "discussed" he was looking for a new SI.

It's much easier to get a gig as a Police Chief then as a former one.

google is your friend, I am not.
"SPIDRE Team" - sounds like something from a James Bond film.

I do not read too much into this other than a decision is imminent. He could have been told to resign because they've decided on the replacement, or he could be resigning because he knows he will not like the new direction, or because he knows that the looming budget cuts will be a lot of work to implement. Maybe he got a cushy offer in O'Malleys security detail.
