this op ed by McCauley is a direct response to Brown's op ed from last week.

Brown made several claim in his op ed:
    -assault weapons are banned
    -magazines are banned
    -background checks were strengthened
-md is safer because of his law despite any data
    -he plans to do more

Pointing out that everything Brown said in writing is untrue is a good thing. the alternative is to allow him to continue to lie.

    This.

He is pointing out the deceptive words that Brown uses to lure voters. They have actually done none of what he said they did.

Too bad he didn't stand up and speak out about it when they were trying to pass this law in the first place. I do like that he basically refuted everything Brown's letter said, however it also gives them a shopping list if they wanted to go after more.

    Unless WaPo calls...

No unless people keep posting details ... you and I agree on how we should generally handle the press. But once there is blood in the water its to late for the code of silence.

Hence no details from me. But by not jumping for joy we make it hard to claim he speaks for us. Frankly as is clear here ...he does not.

He has his own view and is entitled to it.

Its not our message to manage ...I am staying clear.

When you serve at the Governor's pleasure, your hands are tied. There is a chain of command and he respected it. He also retired because of what happened with SB281, and has resolved to be an advocate for the 2A in MD.

Jack knows what he's saying, and is squarely on our side.

But, of course, the other side is going to say, "Well, that's just, like, your opinion, Man..."

With respect jack is a good man,but he speaks for himself. Just as we all do. He does not work for us and we should not expect perfect agreement on every issue. That's not a Digg at him at all.

Attack the good guys. Yay for the 2A brigade.

Obviously its best to just stay quiet because the democrats will twist what park 2A people say.

Not surprised that the Sun posted that. It is more a map of what to ban next than it is a pro gun article.

Its even possible that they will be more receptive if they realise he is not our mouth piece in any way. Friends can disagree respectfully can they not?

Yeah, and we should have duels in the street to settle the differences.

Let's fight to show our unity. Yay.

the antis already have their list. Ban everything. they can continue to copy other states. they have their own experts that will tell them what to do. they have books on the subject, and studies, and other countries to emulate. the original sb281 banned anything with 1 of 12 features. refusing to point out their failure wont protect your hbar. their next step is always confiscation. always. that why everything coming into the state has to be registered. that why you have to register something they didnt already know about to get a HQL. they don't need a list if your individual rifles, they just need a list of addresses and trained dogs.

when we exercise our first amendment we are helping.

And we either vote now, and stand together again...

Or we accept the role of bleating sheeple when the same old thing happens.

IMO, we keep coming up short with only partial victories, because people don't follow through and keep up the pressure.

I think it's a great letter and am glad to see him on our side. Maybe we can even make enough of a friend to help us with testimony in the next legislative session.

Unfortunately though, I think I know what the response from the screeching old leftists in the General Assembly will be. "We need MORE laws"
