Not a great precedent but the guy was a little too clever by half and did not consult legal advice. Is that about the gist of it?
Hell, they consulted the effing ATF first!

And, not one of these cards had ever been verified to even work. Even the ATF's expert gunsmiths couldn't get it to work as a lightning link.

Another case of having to punish those with wrong think. Just like the J6 folks still in jail years later without a trial. Or the Donald's attorneys getting indicted. We are all on a list. Don't say anything unapproved.

The first, second, forth, fifth amendments are little more than suggestions it sometimes seems.

Could this be worth pushing to SCOTUS?

Worse defendents have secured freedom and Amendment protections.

While he was clearly poking the bear, and I think we can agree it was unwise, 5 years for selling bottle openers is pretty Draconian. Especially since they were not even in spec and the ATF couldn't make them work (and you gotta know they tried hard).
Dont forget the BATFE gave permission prior that they were okay to sale.

Where have we heard that story before?

    Play stupid games ...
Some games need to be played. Some bears need to be poked. This whole thing is an exercise in intimidation to make people say "play stupid games" and to scare people into giving up their rights.

This is an extreme miscarriage of justice. Hoover is a goofy guy, but I stand with him. He did nothing wrong. This is a political persecution.

We keep letting the left move the Overton window while we meekly do everything we can to avoid being noticed. Someone needs to give that window a shove. We all should be. If we condemn Hoover and Irving, then we are accomplices in the destruction of our ability to exercise our rights, and we are no longer free.
