I gotta admit, that cake analogy was amazing.

As far as a teacher giving an F due to grading the paper on the subject/stance rather than substance, evidence of research, presentation, and cited sources, then that teacher would deserve an infraction of some sort. Yes, we all know learning institutions, especially higher learning, are bastions of liberalism, but at some point educators will need to take their own medicine when it comes to preaching about objectivity and an earnest discussion and sharing of thought.

The cake analogy came from another gun control paper she researched... she just paraphrased it to fit the essay better
But it is definitely one of the better analogies we have found

Great essay! May God bless her in whatever she chooses to do.

Should MD Shooters sponsor a 2nd Amendment high school essay contest and award an annual award/scholarship funded by donations?

    Just a thought....

Has she turned it in yet? If not, there's a couple typos she could correct and not get points knocked off for.

    In fifth paragraph, Ruger misspelled.
In 9th paragraph, gun grime in second sentence.

    Outstanding essay!

Send it to the newspapers as well.

As for a grade, it's a crap shot. I've met educators who are not educators but indoctrinators, they teach what they believe and damn the facts, full speed ahead.

But there are still educators who are in education for the search for truth.

I like the essay, but the last paragraph should be cited... As others are saying that last paragraph is a paraphrase of someone else's analogy and should be cited as such.

Thanks for allowing me my opinion...

    I've taught. Have you?

I've raised two kids who are college grads wi great GPAS who went to expensive, name recognized schools. One was a physics major and the other a starategic comms major.

I've coached and been an AD. I've spent my time and know that we have a preponderance of liberals teaching our kids. Hopefully your daughter doesn't suffer through too many. The further your kids go in school, the more likely they will encounter/endure knuckleheads teaching them.

Focus, if you can, on my acknowledgement that teaching is a sacred trust and we CANNOT pay the good ones enough. Reread again to see that I (properly) acknowledged your daughter's awesome work.

You can defend the profession all you want...that is your opinion which you are "allowed".

Next time, how about you read the response and consider it before pulling the trigger and talking down to someone you know not well.

    Cheers
