    subtitle: What Women Want.

My wife has a new interest in shooting handguns. She asked me what websites and videos she should look at. I don't think the channels I watch would hold much interest for her. Shooting watermelons stuffed with tannerite just aren't her thing.

What do the women on this forum recommend?

I highly recommend the NRA Women On-Target classes. My wife was quite uncertain of learning to shoot until she took that class. She actually went into the class with the assumption that she would take the classroom stuff but skip the range-time. She shot until they told her to stop and now shoots with me all the time. She wants to go back and take the rifle and shotgun class and she tells women all the time to check it out - even offers to take the class with them.

One (or two) of our members here teach the class at AGC.

That what she took. (different post) She loved it. I want her to take the centerfire course. Flat Broke Shooters. I thought they were an IP, but I guess not. Lexington Park is a bit of a haul for us, but the course she took was in Sundlersville. last weekend.

Don't know how far away you are but there are side-by-side USPSA action pistol and Steel Challenge matches going in both AM and PM at Peacemaker this Saturday and there will be women competing in both matches. Best thing she can do it talk to woman currently competing in matches she might be interested in no matter what they are.

My wife just likes to shoot steel - fast!

Avoid the tactical pretense. Don't make training too serious. My wife also doesn't like being treated like "the girl". In fact she generally hate any training geared towards women because it usually has a back of the bus vibe to it.

By the way, she loves Matt Best - thinks that guy is hilarious.

Women On Target clinics are a great place to start.

There is a Well Armed Women Maryland chapter that meets at FreeState.

Monumental Rifle and Pistol Club has a women's division.

A Girl and A Gun is good too!

I think the best is Cornered Cat site.

I bought my wife a book written by Julie Golob. She is a professional shooter on the Smith and Wesson team.
She wrote this book "Shoot" for women mostly, and beginner shooters. It covers everything from safety to competition. Julie also has a Facebook page.
