    I'm so torn.

Was, and have been completely against it from day one.

Now have my entire office asking ME what they need to do to protect themselves.

Want to help them, but want to stand my ground as well. I have convinced them to protect themselves and they want to, now I have to take the next step to guide them along.

This pos law is morally a mind fu&$.

Like I said...I am completely torn about what to do...and it'd be easy for me 'cause I'm exempt from training.

    The agony.

Buy a nice used gun made before 1965.

Keep and bear are equal things.

I disagree. The guys who wrote the constitution were pretty sharp fellas, and every word is there for a reason. Keep would allow you to possess a firearm, but bear would allow you to carry it around with you and use it. In Maryland we effectively can keep but cannot bear arms anywhere but on our own property and at a range. Unless you are that rare unicorn that has a concealed carry permit.

Yes, they were sharp. However, the States and the People have let legislatures and courts do things to diminish the bill of rights.

Carry permits and ownership cards are two of those things.

Handguns = constitutionally protected class of firearm.
As of 10/01/2013, generally speaking, a MD resident needs the HQL to purchase a handgun -- in order to fulfill the "keep" mentioned in the 2A.

To carry in many states (excluding where permitless carry is legal), one needs to go through similar requirements in order to legally defend themselves in public with a firearm -- that's where "bear" comes in.

I had to pay the state of UT cash, give them my prints, submit to a background check, and sit through a class in order to "bear" should the need ever arise in the states where that permit is observed.

To buy a handgun, I had to pay MD cash, give them my prints, submit to a background check, but I was exempt from the class.

Otherwise, the infringement is the same.

Nice to see so many O'Malley supporters here still carrying the flag for him by refusing to get a HQL.

Democrats/Anti-Gunners in MD for the win!! ;)

I'll bite too. I see that you are a dealer, manufacturer. Good for you, I hope you made a metric shit ton of money in the hyper run up to the 2013 ban. I'm sorry you didn't have the business sense to diversify when the boom busted.

Now, you are a capo shilling for the government with this type of trolling. You are just trolling here to make sales so you can keep your O.C. condo while some of us make hard principled decisions about our beliefs and what we are willing to do and endure for our civil rights. You are an embarrassment. Here you are tossing names at men and women for basically not bailing you out while you are still begging for scraps at the Governments table.

It chaps my ass every time I see a dealer throw insults at people standing up for their constitutional rights to make a few pieces of silver.

We saw this coming, made decisions and plans based on our ability and beliefs and acted accordingly. That's what grown ups do. 2013 was a red line that we won't cross. We made plans and acted on them, that's what principled men do. You don't like it don't post, get lost. Get of the 2A board, goodbye.

Encourage them to go through the HQL process. It's a sour pill to swallow, but completing it does two things: creates new 2A advocates and teaches those same people how ridiculous "gun control" is. When it becomes cheaper and easier to buy a gun on the black market...

Or teach them how to shoot a shotgun... :innocent0

Why help them through the process? Tell them all about it tell them how bad it is then tell them their Senators and Delegates names that did it to them. Because I'll bet you a buffalo nickle that once they have the permit that will be the end of it. Human nature, pissed off people do things, folks that have been through the process are tired of it and done with it or worse, I did it so you should have to too.

That's why the Pro 2A movement is generally a failure, people only act when they are losing something. The Sunday hunting movement is an example, never had it so who cares? But try and take a way Monday even though no one really goes and people lose their mind.

There are a couple of places selling 80% frames. Several board members have build them with few issues. You can also wait for the 100,000 that the CMP will be selling.

FYI, I don't have an HQL and don't plan on getting one. I go to ANP ever year and also send letters all the time.

Now that the government finally admitted that they can't protect us from terrorists, I think more people will come around to the people being able to protect themselves. ;)

    Abso-frickin'-loot-ly.

However I can take people to the range, and make them gun-educated and gun-tolerant. That's a start. Maybe they'll make a phone call. However until they try to OWN a gun and have to jump through hoops to get one... they don't quite get it. One of us after that.

So I will strongly encourage new shooters to run the gauntlet. They WILL get involved after they've gone through it. After you get an HQL and that first pistol, you start looking around at other states and really understanding what 2A means and why there's a serious deficit here. That's when you get politically motivated. As a gun owner now you have something to truly lose. As a 2A sympathizer there's no skin in the game.

I refuse! I consider that the equivalent of going along to get along. I have committed no crimes and I simply will not tolerate being treated otherwise. Consequently, my plan to leave The Peoples Hypocrisy of Marylandistan has accelerated because I can't convince enough fellow residents that you are better off defending yourself than banking on someone who, the Supreme Court ruled in 2005, is not obligated to assist. I can't take it so will be exiting stage south!

I don't have my HQL. I totally disagree with the premise that the HQL saves lives. It doesn't, it only makes it harder and more expensive for a law abiding citizen to purchase a handgun. I am training exempt since I purchased a stripped AR15 lower before 10/31/13, but I still disagree with the premise. As soon as they make criminals get HQL's to purchase handguns on the street then I will get my HQL. Until then I am very happy with my AR's while still enjoying and using my 2nd Amendment rights.

I also have not gotten my HQL. I have read and understand both sides of the argument, If you get it they win if you don't get it they win.

My biggest issue is the extra cost. I am a Vet so training is not an issue but fingerprints and fees would take a huge chunk out of my firearm buying budget.

I have been socking money away and hope to be able to get an HQL in the new year. Couple of handguns out there that I really want.

HQL is only for handguns :) non banned rifles are cash and carry

I know. I'm guessing you might have thought I was confused after saying buying a stripped lower prior to 10/1/13 satisfies the HQL training requirement. What I'm saying is I'm training exempt and all it would take is fingerprint fee and application fee to get my HQL. I still think the HQL is an infringement.
