I tend to favor the 147 gr 9mm loads, as they often favor penetration over expansion. In certain bullet designs(such as the pdx-1's) the 147 gr behave dramatically different. the 124+p pdx-1's have shown some failure to expand's in denim tests, while the 147 gr's reliably expand and penetrate.

If i'm unable to get 147 federal hst's, i go with the 147 pdx-1's/ gold dot/ bonded golden saber. They're all solid choices. The corbon dpx design is very interesting to me, but is too expensive for me to really consider it.

The 147 gr pdx-1's are in my guns now because they performed well in my testing, are fairly cheap, readily available, and feed reliably through hundreds of shots in all my guns(including my pf-9).

In the end, no wonder-bullet will make that big of a difference(as long as it penetrates 12-16") and shot placement will always be key.....along with a thousand other variables such as physiology/psychology of the person getting holes poked in them that are more important than a potential +.1" expansion

You can find them all over, if you know where to look:

    http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?ref=hotpig27&ct=59100

That is the link to the online store for M.D.H. Supplies. Great prices and cheaper shipping than many others. Lots of HST there, too.

www.sgammo.com always seems to have a nice supply of Ranger T-series, as well as Ranger Bonded in stock for various calibers. They also have a lot of HST in .40 at the moment. I wouldn't go for the really light stuff, though. Buy at least 165 gr HST, when you can find it.

Kyle's gun shop usually has HST in stock, but expensive.

You can also get it at Tactical Defense Solutions (TDK), but the shipping is high:

I did some research and the Federal HSTs looked like they'd be the best. Ammuntiontogo.com has the 9mm 124gr for $29. I ordered a few boxes and they run well through my 92. It's LE ammo so it can be hard to find. Ammuntiontogo usually has it. They also carry Winchester Ranger T from time to time.

That is a great article you attached. Looks like the Aguilla ammo is really bad. I wish they had included the Hornady CD. I have heard criticisms of it that it may not penetrate.

Looks like a great source. Will they sell it to non-LE customers?

Rem 12ga 00 buck, 230+p 45acp fed HST(carry and bedstand pistols), and 122gr 7.62X39 Wolff HP. I carry a 45 pistol all day, and set it on the bedstand at night, both long guns are accesable, the 12ga with night sights and flashlight for night time use, the AK for daytime when I'm working at home.
