Have never tried powder coating does the powder coating affect the pill diameter. I have some custom cast HC molds machined to .500 and .458 so I have no need to swedge them just pour and drop.

Yes it does. Unlike spraying, you get different degrees of coating when using the "shake and bake" method. Additionally, different paints wind up thicker than others. I always size after baking, it's how I get my exercise.

Not only what john says but the extra layer is a feature.
I can powder coat the same cast bullet for .311 and use it for .308 to .314 by using different powders that go on thicker or thinner and swaging it.

Great thanks looks like I will be buying some powder, the only bad thing I have 500 pellets for the 45/70 and 250 pellets for the .500 already lubed.

I have been in this situation and, when I wanted to use the lubed bullets for a faster than usual application, I just put them in a couple of pickel jars full of mineral spirits. Shake them around a little for a couple days and then drain into your waste oil container. Then I would fill the pickle jars half full with ISO alcohol and swish them around and then dry on paper towels. They powder coated just fine.

The easiest way is to just shoot them if you can. :D

Thanks, I will try cleaning some.

I found out today at the range that both variants of 223 reloads I made outperform (anecdotally anyway - they did seem to group better) than the Winchester M855 Green Tip ammo I have. Gotta say that I was pretty pleased with that.

Most reloads will best commercial ammo.
From some reading I did today, apparently Winchester M855 Green Tip isn’t exactly known for being particularly accurate. Still, it was nice to have that success with my reloads - they were the first rifle reloads I’ve crafted.

Agree, I even found HC rounds do better. I have opened some factory rounds and found there could be a 3 grain + or - difference between rounds. When loading yourself you can obtain strict control in powder measurement, case trim, seating and crimping of the round. Also, I have found many factory MFGs of heads we use to reload can be up to + or - 1 or so grains. I usually hunt for the lightest head and make them all the same weight (OCD)

Over the last few days I have loaded a mixture of Tokarev, Makarov, 9mm and .45 ACP. Should easily be enough to keep me shooting though the Summer.

Makarovs are a pain! Gotta be very careful when seating the stubby little bullets. It is easy to seat them crooked using my Lee die since there is little material beyond the ogive.

Yes, they are small but not as bad as reloading .380 and .32 ACP. :D

Loaded up 55 6.5 grendel rounds after my recent range session, hopefully will get some good finalized loads. It'll be a bit before I can get back to the range again though sadly.

Received the 500 -.500 S&W cases from Starline yesterday sized them this morning. Should be receiving my new 45/70 cases today or tomorrow.
