Don't know where you are getting your information but you DO NOT have to be a manufacturer to obtain a Class III dealers license. You might want to go to
Uzitalk.com and go to the educational section on Class III/Title II weapons. You'll find comprehensive info on all of your questions.
Correct. You can be an FFL01 with a class 3 stamp to deal in NFA guns, and my understanding is that you can keep pre-May dealer samples if you give up your FFL in that situation.

FFL07 (manufacturer) with a SOT stamp is a much more appealing license if you want to play with NFA toys, but ITAR fees of $2250 a year make it prohibitively expensive for amateur usage.

So. What can we measly civilians buy that is class III?

Anything. By definition, being "class 3" (which, as has been pointed out is a misnomer - "class 3" is the kind of license one must have in order to be a dealer in this kind of firearm. The firearms themselves are "title 2" firearms.) means that there is a special process to go through.

    Full auto AR's

Yes. Provided that the part which is legally "the firearm" (this can mean a receiver, or a sear, or any number of other things depending on the gun in question) was manufactured and registered prior to 1986.

    Supresssirs

    Or "suppressors?" Yes.

    M3 grease guns

Yes. Again, provided that they were manufactured and registered prior to 1986.

    Yes. Same provisions as above.

To be totally frank about this, you seem to have a ton of misunderstandings about the Title 2 / Class 3 / NFA world. Do some more careful reading.

As a general guideline, though, for the "average citizen," these are the rules:

The NFA generally covers several classes of firearm: machine guns, suppressors (which yes, are legally "firearms"), short barreled rifles and shotguns, and "any other weapons" (which is a term that encompasses things like smoothbore shotgun pistols, cane guns, pen guns, etc)

To buy a "machine gun" (that is, a firearm that discharges more than one round per operation of the trigger) you pay a $200 tax, and the machine gun must have been manufactured and registered prior to 1986. Because of limited supply, they are expensive.

To buy (or make) a suppressor, you must pay a $200 tax.

To buy (or make) a short barreled rifle or short barreled shotgun, you must pay a $200 tax.

To make an "any other weapon" you must pay a $200 tax. To buy an "any other weapon" you must pay a $5 tax.

Fully Automatic Weapons were stopped being allowed to be made for us civilians in May 1986 to include making your own Form 1 Full Auto.

The 1968 act stopped the import of fully automatics for civilians. Automatic weapons brought into the country between 1968 and 1986 are considered Pre Dealer Samples and can be purchased by a Dealer with an SOT and retained by that Dealer after he gives up his license.

Sadly it is Supply and Demand, there are only so many Transferable Full Autos and Millions of people want them.

Full Auto's average 5% to 15% increase or more each year depending on the type of weapon. Also once something sells for a crazy price, others follow suit with selling the same weapon at that high price because there is always someone willing to pay that high price, especially since the buyer has the money and wants that weapon.

Basically in this realm of weapons, you are paying Tomorrow's price Today! But once you have that weapon and have all your fun shooting it. Your going to make a profit off it later down the road as long as you take care of it.

Gotta Pay to Play when it comes to Full Autos.......................
