This moderator is a jackass who seems more interested in the anti 2A agenda than anything else.

He mentioned the common arguement that there were armed guards at Columbine, and they didn't save the victims, so that is a failed solution.

Here is the text of the very first reponders who did exchange fire with the shooters. As I read the report, I had to wonder how many lives were saved because of the officers actions. At @ 60 yards, with handguns, they engaged and missed the shooter, and with handguns and a carbine rifle the shooter missed them. This was as students were running from the scene. The actions of distracting the shooter by firing on him saved lives. How many, nobody can say. Their very presence saved lives by allowing the students precious seconds to get away while they were being shot at. That needs to stressed.

Also, in almost every case, not all, but most, these shooters prove themselves to be cowards, who either surrender, or shoot themselves, when challenged in any meaningful way. That has happened time and time again. THAT has saved lives.

Also FYI, Columbine happened during the Clinton AWB, and there is an active AWB in CT, where the Newtown tradgedy happened. So much for laws preventing those tradgedies.

I did not know that both the school principal and the school psychiatrist lunged at the Sandy Hook school killer. This tells me that people that say 'no one needs a gun' may really feel that way; right up to the moment they desperately need one.

While looking for more on this perspective, I found this poll: http://outfront.blogs.cnn.com/2012/12/19/controversial-gun-debate-arming-our-public-school-teachers/
If you think teachers and school administrators (whom we already trust with our children's lives) should be allowed to be armed; vote.

What I saw was David Gregory waving around a 30 round magazine on the show. As far as I have been able to determine, Meet the Press is filmed in the District of Columbia. Is it against DC law to possess a 30 round magazine? If so, Mr. Gregory should be be getting a visit by the Metropolitan Police immediately.

Wayne looked rattled. Always on the defensive. The moderator came at him out of the starting gate and didn't let off. I really don't think we won a lot of points on this one.

DC High Capacity Ammunition Magazines - D.C. Official Code 7-2506.01

    Graham's piece was fantastic!

Yes. Graham did well. LaPierre barely held his own, if that. The fleck of foam on his mouth will be what everyone focuses on. Stand by for late-night comedy.

To be honest--and some will dislike this--we're at a point where we need to make some small concessions. Let the government license someone to buy, starting now, 20+ round magazines and drums. Go ahead and require fingerprints, etc., like they do for full auto weapons. Just don't make the process take seven months and cost hundreds of dollars. Charge a $30 fee for a three year license, and be done with it. The momentum of the gun-ignorant majority of Americans is changing, and we need to show that we want to control the problem, too. We all know that it's not going to work, but we're in the minority, and it's getting to be out of our hands. We can give a little, or lose a lot, and this would allow us to jump through a hoop and still be able to buy what we want.

I disagree. The current frenzy is fed by emotion. That's why the antis are trying to ram things through so quickly. They know the emotions will subside and they will have lost their chance.

We need to stand firmer than firm through the next month or so and let the temperature drop some so that it gets off the front pages and more logic and reason can be used in the debate.

What part of "shall not be infringed" is confusing to you?

Edit: More importantly, tell me how any of your concessions would make a difference?

    in a word......NO.

Which part of "No" didn't you understand....the "N" or the "O"?

    Nope.....not....never gonna do it.

Now's the time to be on the offensive not on your heels.

Small concessions are nothing less than Capitulation and only lead to incremental infringement......this is how we got to the point we're at.....Conservatives/Libertarians keep giving and Socialist/Progressives keep demanding more.

We need to stop humoring a-holes as if they deserve a debate. The 2A isn't up for debate no matter what happens, period. Like every other civil right, endowed upon us by our creator. Instead of constantly trying to offer winning arguments to idiots who don't get it, they should be ridiculed for their stupidity and ultimately told to F off.

I meant the debate over safety in schools, etc. I agree that armed guards is the answer.

I did not mean any debate about 2A rights, though I can see how you could have misinterpreted.

Armed Guards are not the answer unless the parents of these kids are willing to foot the entire bill

Othewise you're just accellerating our economic demise and causing more misery for the next generation

I think Israel has some interesting ideas when it comes to national defense.

I'm not confused, and I already said that we all know it won't make a difference. Don't have the same automatic knee-jerk response as the antis. Read what's written.

Sorry, but I know the government and policy game as well as probably anyone on this board, and I know that you can be right, or you can be smart. It's time to be smart. Otherwise, we'll end up like Australia ... with nothing ... because the majority of the American public, who don't know the facts, will be emotionally persuaded to shift away from our views and will see us as irrational gun nuts. LaPierre didn't help today. I wish that Lindsey Graham had been speaking for the NRA.

I'm just keeping it real, folks. Don't get pissed at me because it's not what any of us--including me--wants. The public is looking for a fix from any direction possible, and right now, to the majority of the public, we're looking like a small minority who are refusing to be a part of the fix. What I proposed would be an inconvenience to us, but not a prohibition, and the public would perceive it as us doing our part to work toward a solution.

Gregory was stating that 40% of firearms were bought outside the NICS system. Can that possibly be correct? I see a few folks walking around gun shows with for sale signs on their guns and maybe a table or two of someone selling their antique collection, but the VAST majority are lined up at ffl/dealer tables buying and going thru NICS, and of course that's the case at all of the stores.
