I bought a AYM VZ-52 and a 1946 Russian Mosin Nagant today at an auction. I paid $515.00 for both. I'm hoping some of the serious C&R guys here can tell me I at least broke even.... LOL

I couldn't resist them, they called to me. :sad20:

IMHO, you did fine. The M44 if its in decent shape is worth at least 200, and the VZ, more than the 315, assuming everything works correctly.
Wish I were at the auction

IMO you did a little better then even. the VZ-52 is 400 or so (though I have been seeing them go for more lately) and the Nagant is looks like a M44 which would be about 200 or so.

Is the VZ 52 chambered for 7.62 x 45 or 7.62 x 39? The originals were chambered for 7.62 x 45 which can be tough to find (and a bit pricey)... but some were built chambered for 7.62 x 39 and designated vz 52/57. Beware, some VZ 52 rifles have a chamber insert to make them 7.62 x 39 and this is not the same as a 52/57 which is worth a bit more.

    Enjoy them both!

Unless the camera is playing tricks I don't think that's the original stock on the Mosin. The '46s had very light colored stocks. I love postwar Mosins. I wouldn't take a dime less than $275 for that one.

Wow, lots of interesting stuff at that auction. I just did a quick scan of the auction pictures. I saw a number of .303 ammo boxes. If full, do you remember what they went for? Congrats on your purchases.

Its all shit I learned on here from the real experts.

I am also thinking that may not be a refurb. I don't see any marks to indicate its a refurb and the numbers on the bolt look like they be original.

Ill disagree with you there. My 2 crates acquired a year apart both show 82 and 84 refurb dates. I'm pretty sure this was a early import prolly before it hit the refurb process.

If it was imported prior mid 80's I bet a lot were missed in the refurb.
