This was only put forward to handicap Hogan and the rare future republican governor

I read the info on the ballot and understood it before I read this thread. The text on the ballot was clear enough to get my NO vote.
Fact is, many (if not most) people can't read. And anytime those in power (like in Marylandistan) tee up a change in policy it's normally not for my benefit... :sad20:

I looked at as "who's going to pay for this?" Special elections cost me money. Let the governor pick who they're going to pick.

    Question 1 won by 72.5%

Hogan bitch-slapped by GA & MD voters.

I'm really growing to dislike this state.

Progressive Maryland, jumping every opportunity to prove that it is paving the way for out of step with the rest of the country.

Not sure how this is legal, even if the voters passed it. I can see a fight in the courts with this

This was a blatant power grab by the Libtards running Maryland. I saw this, and voted no with extreme prejudice. I can wait to get out of this Godforsaken state. Retirement cannot come fast enough....

Plan D? Not worth the hassle.
Not to be contrarian but I think I'm with Boondock on this. Sure it might be perceived as a slap against Hogan. But he's a rare bird. Most governors in MD are going to be Democrats, and if passed this bill remains law. So the usual case will be a sitting Dem gov. If the vacancy is another Dem then the outcome is predetermined. However if the vacancy is a Republican, then a Dem governor would be forced, with this bill, to retain the R seat. Otherwise he/she will replace the R with a D.

Think long term; think strategic. I'm leaning towards yes - specifically because I want to protect Republican seats.

When is the last time we had a R AG ?

Hint... This is because Frosh may want or need to move on..

They are pushing it now for a reason.. the day Hogan goes and the Gov is a Democrat is the day they will push it back..

    Btw did it pass?

    I see not..

Frosh will be making a play then I guess..

    Oh well.

Yea - this really crushes Hogan - strips him of authority. Really sad about this - he's limited in what he can do already and this strips him of this power as well. Really bad.

honestly, considering that Hogan is popular, i think the average person put no thought into it, said "well, this sounds okay," and voted yes.

don't presume the electorate is that informed.
