  • How does fingerprinting stop straw purchases?

It might, but I've never seen any data on straw purchases (except entrapment by Bloomberg's group). That won't stop gun-control proponents from touting it though.

If it does, it will make legal gun owners targets. A nice, big, digital database to be compromised and published. Want to steal guns? Buy a list of holders from J. Random Hacker.

No one in their right mind would us MD as an example. MD is possibly the most liberal state in the union. Any other state that tried this would be in chaos, as Colorado and their soon to have recall elections are showing.

NY, CA, and MD are the outliers in this country. Most states are voting to expand gun rights instead of restrict them right now. Not to mention that the courts are going to eat this legislation alive.

I posted a reply and it went to moderation review. I wonder how it will wind up??

(Licensing, finger printing, and the new ban on so called assault rifles, including reducing magazine capacities to 10 rounds or less, will have little to no effect on the Maryland violent crime rate. Until the revolving prison door for violent offenders in closed by legislation and the courts, no amount of feel good gun legislation will alleviate the Maryland violent crime rate. In addition, normally most criminals don’t get their guns through normal legal means. Only law abiding citizens will register and comply with the new laws. Will you sleep better at night, knowing that law abiding citizens comply and the criminal element won’t??? Also keep in mind many of the most prominent Maryland legislators are trial lawyers who feed at the legal system trough. Not saying that fact influences legislative decision making, but it does make me wonder sometimes.)

    Free?? State
The "fool" who wants to be the plaintiff in a major rights violation case. Oh, with major bucks for punitive damages attached - unfortunately, it will be you, me, and every other Maryland taxpayer paying for it. :mad54:

Or, do you mean the NRA bandwagon?

What I was saying (or trying to say) was; most 2A folks I spoke with did NOT want it to go to referendum, I believe that is why the signatures weren't collected. The press naturally reports this as a loss by the NRA, when it was really a tactic. The "fool" I was referring to would be any politician who uses a vote FOR SB281 to get re-elected, especially since I believe the new "system" of handgun purchases will be troubled at best and SB281 will be challenged in court by then.

"More than a month after their success in this year’s General Assembly, gun control campaigners are still smiling."

I'd like to see some lawsuits totally SCHIT in their Cheerios.

The way I read the constitution, vinnie is the leader of a hate group.

I just got the response to Vinnie's question about "success" being duplicated elsewhere...

I hope that the anti creepers here get a very subtle message....if your bill was really common sense legislation everyone would be adopting it. If your bill was really common sense it wouldn't be just a Democratic effort (this is coming from a Democrat). If your bill was really focused on reducing gun crimes more folks would support it (including me). Your cause is not just so you will loose in the end. Celebrate and bask in the hubris of your "win". You owned a stacked deck with which even the average uneducated street vermin could win with.

Funny how no comments are posting...I guess they don't like the 1st Amendment either...

I made a comment and after posting, I received this response:

"Your comment has been queued for moderation by site administrators and will be published after approval."

In other words- Thank you comrade for your thoughts, but if it does not match our socialist mindset, it will be ignored.
