I doubt they would appeal for Cert, given that there are at least six other states with an HQL/FOID scheme, that would also be affected by any ruling against Maryland. No, all of those states are calling Brown and telling him to STFU and eat it, much like Maryland and other states with G&S called DC and told them to STFU and eat it after the Wrenn decision.

En Banc ? Maybe . But to try for SCOTUS , Md would have to be stupider than usual .

They would piss off the other anti gun states with HQL analog s .

And even from Maryland's point of view , they can spin it as not even losing anything . The 77R checks Exactly the same checks as the HQL , so nobody is buying a gun a month from now who couldn't a month ago .

The only thing missing is the extra layer of pointless harassment .

Shall Issue actually changed something . Bianchi will actually change something . HQL actually accomplishes nothing beyond petty harassment .

A lefty judge upheld an AWB by adding words to Miller that are not there. "For self defense" after "in common use" to justify their decision without regard to the constitution or SCOTUS precedent.

That was pre-Bruen....good luck with that post Bruen, and not getting paint all over them.

If it were to be heard En Banc, and they reversed the 3 judge panel to uphold the HQL law, that would seem to create a circuit split between the 4th circuit (HQL constitutional) and the 5th circuit (FOID unconstitutional). That's an open invitation for SCOTUS to do some whoop ass on the whole concept (and on the 4th circuit), not that they wouldn't anyway. But a SCOTUS ruling could also set other things on fire, e.g. the NJ FID.

This may prove to be just another chapter of a painfully slow process, before the fat lady finally sings. But it's a good chapter so far.

It would be best for the governors and AGs of other states to convince Maryland to take one for the team and don’t make an appeal. Besides the time and money it takes every time you go to a court it’s a crap shoot on how it will be decided…no matter how strong your case.

The Maryland Democrat politicians know better than anyone else. They will not listen!

When was the lawsuit originally filed?

Just curious as to how long the process has been.

That’s just outrageous for any trail to take that kind of time to get to the courts.
Glad it wasn't a civil rights issue or anything. Can you imagine if there was a license to apply to get an abortion? All those women dying from not being able to get health care?

Again, 140,000 or so permit holders in Md and only 3,000 MSI members, we need to do better.

Think of the legal might we could bring to bear if all 140,000 permit holders joined. Not all gun owners, just permit holders. 140,000 times the minimum 25.00 membership!!! How about at least everyone on MDShooters?

MSI is why we have this victory and the injunction against sb1, so if you aren’t gonna be active at events at least join.

    Rant over, sorry
