i strategically place tree steps around the stand where I (hopefully) will not contact them if I fall but can use them support myself if it should happen. Remember tree steps are steel rods sticking out of the tree so if you contact one at high speed you're probably going to get one hell of a puncture.

    Ain't no way in hell...

Here's another cool video with it, but, it takes a few minutes to get
to the point, but, the video is excellent example of how it works.

I like that system. What he say's about the blood pooling in your legs makes a lot of sense. Wonder if those are available at Bass Pro?

Well, I just ordered one. The rescue One CDS. I'll feel a lot more comfortable out in the woods with it, rather than my standard body harness that I wear.

    I think it's a great idea!

SOMDSHOOT, thanks for the post about it!

I bought the 39$ hang on from Dicks. It came with a full body harness and tree climbing strap. Its not the nice vest type, but a BIG improvement over a simple waist strap and no climbing aid. The stand set up nice and is reasonable comfortable.

Well, here it is, Came from Pennsylvania. Commercially packaged, I checked every component and it is high quality. Will be wearing it from here on out when in a tree:

Hopefully, it'll never need to be deployed in rescue fashion; but it's available.

I did have a climber platform collapse on me once when I was coming down and I was left hanging about 12 feet up in a tree. It is a terrible helpless feeling. Ended up slipping out of my harness and hugging the tree all of the way down, slipping and trying to grip the tree with my arms. Nice wood rash on the inside of my arms and chest. Don't want to go that route ever again.
