If you don't mind driving nearly to Annapolis, go to AAFG (AACO Fish and Game) and check out their IDPA, or other events.

Berwyn Rod and Gun is pretty close too, but they don't do IDPA.

Some of the things I did besides a lot of live fire practice scenarios was to use a laser/target setup to practice with my pistol thumbing the hammer between "shots" and using a semi auto CO2 pistol to run drills and mini scenarios. The crappy DA trigger on the CO2 pistol made the SA one on my pistol seem magic.
