    They arent expensive either.

$150ish, depending on the type of pistol.

Isn't this something similar to what Sig came out with a couple of years ago on the P365?

No, and I have a Gen 3 Glock 22 whose police trade in Trijicons are just about done. That's pretty strictly a range toy for me so I wouldn't be limiting a carry gun while I learned...

I bought a Holosun 507c and hated using it until I put some tall iron sites on it (AmeriGlo GL329). It’s helped me tremendously.

Curse you. Now I want these.
    Nope...no, you really don't--

    There's a reason...

    Yes, yes they are--
    Yep.

    Hated it.
    ^^^^This---

Don't spend your money until you borrow a P365 SAS from someone and try them out. For those of you who have some money that's just dying to leave your wallet and you have P365 frame-- I'll gladly sell you a barely used SAS slide under MSRP :D . Who knows...YMMV?

I’ve been experimenting with RMR/Glocks for a long time and for some reason , iron sights are faster.

    But…………….

I was completely wrong in terms of using the system. Yes, it’s a system. If you can come up with a good pistol / red dot combo and proper training, the red dot equipped pistol may be faster.

First, disregard all your training in terms of aiming. That focus on the front sight like a laser beam concept. That will actually slow you down.

Screw dots. And screw red. Switch to a circle dot( Ala eotech) in Green. The eye is more sensitive to green compared to red. For the human eye has more photo receptors for green. Least receptors for red.

Then , ditch the Glock. lol. As a Glock fanboy, that hurts. Glocks have a weird grip angle that does not coincide with the natural point of aim for most people. Most that point shoot with a Glock , shoot high. One must break from natural point of aim and bend the wrist slightly forward to correct that flaw. If your Glock has a red dot. Then most likely, it will be off as well. For me, that was enough to cause the dot to disappear and I end up dot fishing using the front iron sight to re acquire the reticle.
With that situation , I was aiming twice.
I would focus on the front iron sight. Index the red dot over the front sight and superimpose that on the target.

Doing things twice will be slower.

Then, there’s the situation where the human eye can only focus on one plane at a certain time. Trying to focus on the front sight , to index the red dot and being that onto the target is confusing to the brain and the eye. Plus , we’re added another step to the aiming process.

So…. I almost gave up. Then I was cleaning the gun safe and found my old colt m4 with an ACOG. Started to retrain my eye and brain to get proficient with the ACOGs Bindon aiming concept. ( using an acog as a red dot ) in the Bindon aiming concept, two eyes are open. The shooter focuses on the target with the non dominant eye and the dominant eye sees the ACOGs illuminated reticle. Two separate images that the brain melds together to form a single image. If done correctly , the shooters sees the target clearly with the reticle floating in space indexed onto the target.

This concept of aiming should also be applied to pistols with slide mounted red dot sights. Use your red dot equipped pistol like an ACOG.

How about the Glock’s horrible grip angle? I had the recontour the glock’s grip to somewhat resemble the grip angle of a 1911. But it’s still not perfect. So I ditched the Glock as a host for a slide mounted red dot.

I have a slide mounted rmr on a 1911 and never had an issue of losing the dot. But had to go dot fishing with Glocks and other modern pistols.

So the search for a pistol with a grip angle that matched my natural point of aim became an obsession.

Then last summer, I was able to get my hands on the new walther pdp pro sd. I bought the gun for the phenomenal trigger. This pistol also pointed naturally. It has better ergonomics than my trusty g19/32. At the same time, holosun released the SCS that was specific to the PDP. So, I had to get one.

And what a surprise …. This was the recipe to the secret sauce. The pdp pointed naturally and match the natural point of aim. The green circle/ dot of the scs was easier to pick up ( 32 moa vs the RMRs dot). The iron sights were situated 1/3lower co-witness. Which puts them out of the way.
The grip of the PDP was designed by the gun geeks at walther to help index the reticle onto the eye. If you lose the dot, simply put pressure on the pinky finger. That interfaces with the front strap flare and repositions the grip to a correct angle. Upon presentation and aiming. The Dot is always there. Without having to resort to the front iron sight as a landmark.
With that, I employed the Bindon aiming technique. You can even tape the front of the optic and still make accurate hits.

Then, practice your draw in the dark. Disregard the front iron sight. When you get the feel for the right grip, the right orientation , hand-coordination. Build that into muscle memory.

Then with that, you have a system that is indeed faster and more accurate than the iron sights of legacy pistols.

    IMHO,

Large windows on pistol optics are over rated. The shooter should not look through the optic. But focus on the target. Let the eye and brain do its job and reconstruct all the visual data points into one picture.

As I’ve indicated. You can even tape off the front of the optic and still use it effectively. Binocular vision is a wonderful thing. Work with it. Not against it.

It's kind of a slight of hands trick. The layout of the sight fools your eyes into thinking the middle, or front sight, is further out than it is. This sight is not for everyone.
My far vision is OK,, but I need reading glasses for up close.
Handgun sights are "fuzzy",, the Holsun grn 507K on my wifes CZ is nice.
I was hoping to find something besides a "Red Dot" for my CZ,,

    I dunno .

Shafted was explaining to me , but without me really gettiing a grasp on it . Then he brought his gun so equipped to one of the gun shows , and imeadately upon trying it out , it made sense .

If you're familiar with Cirillo techniques . there's one of those with similar concept . But that's kind of obscure .
